Had a person in my guild soloing Normal Cata Dungeons in Sv Spec with his Turtle. This was before patch 4.06.
I would think Warrior/Hunter would be the better choices. From what I have seen Rogue's don't do that well in face to face for long periods of time.

I solo lots of old stuff on my hunter.
Now, if it's faceroll stuff that you're doing (BC heroics are pretty much that at 85 now) for money/rep/rare recipes then survival is the way to go for pure efficiency, the
massive AoE boost
is just silly. You still want a turtle/beetle so you don't have to worry about your pet too much and can gather tons of mobs, misdirect with
glyph
obviously & just spam multi-shot & explosive trap then finish of anything left alive with your lock and load that should have procced.
I see quite the lack of self-heal.
That is always the hunter's downside.
For more challenging things like LK heroics you have to get a bit creative, but fortunately MM is here to help. Chimera shot heals you for 5% now, and combine that with a
spirit beast
for the tricky fights and you're...well, your not quite a paladin, but you might just live through some of the rougher stuff!
Also, since the stuff you kill isn't grey at that level, you get the nice +50 focus boost from rapid
killing
/
recuperation
, which helps you...kill stuff more rapidly;)
And don't forget about
these
, almost affordable now, and gives you a bit of an edge.

Just FYI, you can't combine MM spec for hunter and a spirit beast. You have to run BM to use a spirit beast.

Tier5 2set, spec Spirit Bond and bring your bandages. A Chimera Shot / Spirit Beast is good too, but I've done quite a lot without either so far.
Hunter is amazing for soloing stuff.
Oh, a thought.. Draenei Hunter solves the healing issue quite well :D

or is it now possible to solo lvl 80 heroics as an 80?
Yes, there was a DK who solo'd most of the wrath HC's at 80 (i think pre 4.01), but not seen much about warrior soloing.

I've been soloing on my lvl 85 Arms Warrior and was cranking through Caverns of Time feeling good.
But last night I hit up the Violet Hold and got spanked. I'm not looking for a guild but maybe another player who likes to solo dungeons to team up with for just dual runs.

Sartharion himself was soloed by a Blood Death Knight. This was befor 4.x, it was around tier 9/10?
The difference between starter epics and ICC epics is MASSIVE. Just purelly MASSIVE. There was the time Heroics felt safe with 22000 buffed HP tanks @ 80, and when ICC was out, even in old heroics you'd throw a nauseated look at a 28000 unbuffed tank.

Out of those three a hunter would be best in my opinion. It doesn't really matter which spec as long as you get the 3/3 Hunter vs Wild, 2/2 Spirit Bond and either a turtle or beetle. Although Marksman does have the edge when it comes to self-healing, burst and interrupts.
The biggest strong points for hunters are:
Pets are great at soaking up AoE / magic damage
Mend Pet heals for a lot (40% of pet health over 10 sec when glyphed, before talents that increase healing taken)
Feign Death reduces all that healing aggro to zero and it will despawn adds often
The only things that cause problems when soloing with a hunter are high unavoidable damage, mind control and fights that require a lot of tank (read: pet) movement.
Blood DKs are the kings of soloing though with high self healing, good avoidance/mitigation and cooldowns.

I've soloed most of the WOTLK Heroics as a Bear.

Out of the 3 I'd say Hunter.
Regarding Death Knight, you may want to pick him up again. It's a slight bit more dynamic now with the random Rune procs and the endless Rune Striking for Blood, among other things (not incredibly different, but different enough I suppose).
Of course, you could just go Unholy. That's actually changed a lot.

I was able to solo several packs in normal Lost City on my warrior while most of my guildies were AFK. I am 342 ilvl and Prot Spec.
I have soloed most LK heroics (with the exception of mechanics preventing me.) Patchwerk in lvl 80 Naxx, Temple and Ruins of AQ, Kara, MC, and most of BWL after a DK friend helped me through the first three bosses.
Meanwhile, said DK friend sleeps through MC, Ruins and temple of AQ, Mag's Lair, Kara, and solos Ashes of A'Dal for the mount evey reset. He has soloed all the trash in Normal Throne of Tides, with me and him two-manning the bosses.
So yeah, Blood DK>Prot Warrior.

WT Teach gmail the difference between spirit beast (exotic pet) and spirit bond (hunter talent) before he accuses anyone else of lying.
