You should have requeued instead of leaving the dungeon.

You do get priority on members if you're at least 2 left in the group and LFM while in the dungeon.
Furthermore if everyone leaves in the group and you did not, you don't receive the deserter debuff.

As a fellow dps, I too hate the long wait for random heroics. I was thinking the other day about an ideal (for me only perhaps) solution that would be nice.
I tend to find the approx queue length time quite accurate, certainly within a few minutes. What would be great would be to be able log on to an alt and perhaps get a pop up warning that you're 5 mins away from a group on the character you queued on. I think you'd only be able to queue on one character at a time. If you fail to relog in time for you're queue then it gets treated as it currently does if you do not accept the group in time.
Also, having someone else join, leave your party or disconnect when in a queue is a painful process. Would be nice if I accidentally grouped up with someone to make a craft, or invite a fellow guildie/random from trade into a group that my queue didn't start again.

Well yeah, but you get lootz whenever you please then.
Yeah, if you feel like helping people who test windex as a beverage on a daily basis get through an encounter.
Otherwise, you just queue with your guild members because you know they're competent and can get the job done while you're all having a good time.

Blizz set it up perfectly really.
They knew LFD queues would get big, this is why they introduced Archaeology into the game.
That's it. If you've got 525 Archaeology, go get some more epics or something from it.
Actually, that's why I stopped queuing as a tank on my Paladin. You don't get to do anything but dungeons as a tank...
oh, how my fishing skill has suffered!

This is going to come accross a lot harsher then I mean it, but the complaining about waiting 30 minutes to find a group is absurd! All you have to do is push a button and wait.
Do you remember when one had to use the /who command and then build a party? OMFG that took longer, and it was all you did.
Queue yourself up, and then do random bull @#!^ until your get your group.
Or as Viryz said, join a guild. That may solve all the gourping whoas.

I for one LOVE my 30 minute queue times. If I was a tank I'd have the harsh decision of whether I level my profession, duel random people in Durotar, or do dungeons. But as a DPS, the 30 minute queue allows me to both dungeon, and do as I please.
