I've got the following macro for applying my poisons to my weapons as a rogue:
#show
/use Deadly Poison; Instant Poison
/use 17; 18; 16
Is there a way of preventing the icon from changing if I press shift while in combat?

I don't think it's possible, unless macros can register the "PLAYER_REGEN" event (maybe with some scripts).

Didn't think about nocombat parameter. If #showtooltip accepts it, it should work fine.

It does.

#show Instant Poison; Deadly Poison
/stopmacro
/use Deadly Poison; Instant Poison
/use 17; 18; 16
Thanks for the input everyone. The above macro does exactly what I wanted. I think I've got the conditionals on the #show line setup properly, but my quick test while whacking a training dummy showed that the icon didn't change while pressing a modifier.

That's because when you're in combat, it's always going to satisfy the first condition and show Instant Poison.

Yes pelf, as was the intended behavior. My concern was whether I was able to perform the conditionals as efficiently as possible. The condition for the #showtooltip wasn't necessary, and I wanted to clean up the conditionals so that it didn't show Deadly Poison while pressing alt.
#show Instant Poison; Deadly Poison
/stopmacro
/use Deadly Poison; Instant Poison
/use 17; 18; 16
