If you have the haste, get two frostbolts off and then get an ice lance right after the second frostbolt, if done fast enough it will hit against a frozen target and will do more damage than just ice lance spamming.

I usually do Ice Lance -> Frost Bolt -> Ice Lance (or what kikc said, but that require Early Frost to be active). Not only FB deal more damage, it also gives chance for Brain Freeze/FoF proc (which is calculated on spell hit, so you won't waste it by chaining FB -> IL).
Also, after 4.06 will hit, difference to Frost Bolt and non-FoF IL will be even bigger.

What about popping Icy Veins, and letting the Frostbolts fly? It ramps up yer haste, and u should be able to squeeze in 3 frostbolts. Hopefully Blizz doesn't nerf the Deep Freeze glyph...the damage is INSANE against bosses.

Seems like a good idea after the next patch, and you can get off a cheeky IL at the end as well.

Are you guys confusing Fingers of Frost w/ Deep Freeze when replying?
The best way to get the target frozen for Deep Freeze is to use the WE 'Freeze' ability. Then you can go DF, Cold Snap, DF if you want. It's nerfed in 4.0.6 though. Then you probably want to just Freeze, DF, Ice Lance, Frostbolt etc. and save Cold Snap for later.
Cheers.

I think he means Deep Freeze on mobs that are not stun immune. i.e. getting the most out of the 5 second of the stun.

Endgame note: This question becomes completely irrelevant, DF becomes a massive nuke on bosses,
and something you shouldnt use on trash
, I've never found a tank that was pleased with me for randomly stunning a mob, doing a massive amount of damage (Generating lots of threat) on it, and then having it wake up 5 seconds later.
Wait, what?
DF has a 30 second cooldown, which means that you should use it whenever it's up. I've never ever had a tank complain to me for stunning the mob he was hitting for 5 seconds, reducing the damage he would take and helping the healer in the process. Unless you're randomly DF-ing some mob the tank isn't hitting, which might be a whole another problem altogether.

Deep Freeze on non stunnable mobs hasn't seemed to be a very good use of Fingers of Frost anyways. The 30 second cooldown has always been geared towards the pvp aspect.
The only times I would use Deep Freeze to stun would be if I needed to interrupt something with Counterspell on cooldown, 5 seconds of mob CC, or to stop a cast that is
un-counterspellable
but the mob is stunnable.
Ice Lance would be a better option in most cases if all your looking for is damage.

Touche, Aronite.
Well, long story short, when I run Frost spec on my mage, I use DF whenever it's up. There doesn't seem to be any downside to it, and no tank or healer has complained yet.
Frox, DF would give you more opportunity to launch more Ice Lances, as opposed to the 1 that FoF gives.

The Deep Freeze glyph is for mobs immune to the stun, as it's a 20% damage boost... and the damage is amazing! As far as stunable mobs...yes I meant when you have a frozen mob or FoF, pop Icy Veins, then DF and squeeze in 3 Frostbolts. With enough haste it's easily done. Nickseng is right too. It seems that when a mob is stunned by DF, it acts as if it's frozen.
