Holy Paladin Chimaeron [Eye for an Eye]

I'm throwing together a special spec for Chimaeron and I can not find a topic on eye for an eye. My question is, when Chimaeron throws out Caustic Slime (
) what is the damage return to him? The tool tip no longer says it limits the damage based on % of health. The only concern I have is would the return of damage be the full 30% of the 280k since you aren't technically dieing, or just 30% of where your health was at to 1%.

The issue is, what are you going to drop for EfaE? Maybe 10% of the fight (his last 20% health, adjusted down for the vulnerability debuff and the fact that any intelligent raid is going to blow lust) you have absolutely nothing to do but blow CDs and spam a Denounce-specced Exo.
The problem I have is that Denounce is the only thing in my spec right now that I could justifiably take points out of to put into EfaE, and I'd be surprised if doing so was a DPS gain.

I never specced into denounce since I am a healer. I don't know if you are a shockadin. I dropped aura mastery and sacred cleansing since they are completely useless in that fight. Improved judgment can go since I'm practically standing on him any way. That leaves 4 talent points up for grabs with a few switched around.
What I am asking is will EfaE return 30% of 280000 damage or 30% of how much HP I have to when he drops me to 1%. Or at all if it is not considered "direct damage".

Oh, well, if you're respeccing on a per-fight basis yeah you can find points for it.

We weren't running logs last night, but Eye for an Eye was my second highest damage ability as prot, eating the double strikes.

Chimaeron is a fight that screams for respec. You have to make yourself useful for the last 20%. But there is no point in EfaE as healer as the boss stops spitting during the mentioned last 20% where it would matter.

I still feel I need to clarify my question. The closest to come to an answer was dingbott1 who told me EfaE returns on the double strike, which is obvious.
Everyone else seems to be thinking I need help speccing or something. I have the points to spend how I please for this boss. During the boss encounter you have the buff "Finkle's Mixture" (
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=82705#used-by-npc
) and can't be killed unless you are under 10000 hp. As far as I can tell without back up information is that Caustic slime is a direct damage attack.
I am asking if 30% of Caustic Slime (280000dmg x .3 = 84000dmg) is returned to the boss, since technically you are getting hit with the full 280000dmg but being saved by Finkle's Mixture at 1 health.
or
Does it do 30% of my hypothetical say 30k hp to 1 (30000hp x .3 = 9000dmg)
or
Caustic Slime does not count as direct damage and does nothing.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't return on the double strike, which is a melee attack. I was just saying that I wasn't getting very much vengeance, so the numbers were skewed some.
We were running two healers last night and only got two feuds, which made the fight a lot easier, so any extra dps could help before P2 even.
Another piece of information, is my highest EfaE hit was 53k, and I had just over 170k health, so that was a big hit to proc it. I don't know if overkill procs it, but like you said, it should hit about 84k otherwise.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Your highest EfaE crit was 53k when you had near full health. The numbers work out perfectly for the 30% of your health pool returned, no overkill.
It looks like Blizz saw that one coming. It's not worth speccing into for holy or ret since your health will rarely be full. But our tank likes the idea.
Thanks for paying attention to your EfaE dingbot.

./shrug. I already have Denounce since I'm not spending three points to slightly increase my self-healing which I don't need anyway because of PotI. Bring on the holy pain!
We were one corpse away from the achievement last night. :/ Haven't got a rogue though (lol melee) so I don't see it happening any time soon.

I do the same thing, actually. Our druid keeps going into p2 with ~30k health.
Side note, can you bubble off the Break stacks? Because your MT is useless going into p2 even if you manage to get him to full health with four stacks of that debuff on him.
