I'm just curious I am leveling up a hunter right now and using a Tenacity pet (A bear) and I was just curious what other thought I should be specing for while leveling. I read a lot about how to spec cunning or ferocity pets for DPS but little about Tenacity for leveling and such.
It seems to me that for leveling my Tenacity pet should be able to take damage but also deal a good bit so the few DPS style talents look intriguing. I was thinking something along the lines of (Wowhead pet talent linking is not working for some reason)-
2202
2002
3201
- - 00
0000
- 20 -
This would give it most of the DPS style talents while still getting the armor bonus and threat talents like Thunderstomp for good solo tanking as well as some healing in Silverback. It skips a lot of the seemingly hardcore pet tanking talents like Grace of the Mantis and Last stand which to me don't seem like they will find a ton of use in leveling play and are geared toward soloing difficult bosses.
The only real question mark I would have would be Great Stamina and Blood of the Rhino vs Natural Armor and Pet barding. I feel like the armor will work out superior though.
Any further advice on specing a Tenacity pet for leveling? For what its worth I am leveling Beast Mastery and here is my armory:

And with the buffs and glyphs of mend pet, get all threat generating talents first.
Than armor, health and damage. For a pet-tank, of course.

I roll with

IMHO, armor is always better than stamina. You could have 1,00,000,000 HP but with 0 armor, i would kill you in 1 hit.
Pet Calc links are not working for me. I can't see what the spec is.

Well as I said this is mostly for leveling. My main concern above all else is keeping the monster off me because it makes my life easier. Honestly they nerfed all difficult leveling encounters so barring a fluke accident I don't see myself needing a ton of mitigation. Though your thinking on Blood of the Rhino vs Pet Barding seems solid.

I actually already have Ashtail but I think I may go for one of the white ones down the line. I always wanted a white bear which is why he was my first tamed pet. Also relooking at the tree I think I will drop Spiked Collar and fill out Blood of the Rhino and drop 1 point in Natural armor. Blood of the Rhino does effect Mend Pet correct?

That is correct.
Also, affect, not effect.
