Resto shaman arenas – woohoo – it’s actually quite fun once you get the hang of it. I haven’t done any of the new arena’s as I generally work on pve before working on my arena’s. However the dynamics never change, heal, kite, riptide, earthshield, cleanse, decurse, purge, heal, run, totem swaps are all key to keeping yourself alive.
Pray you have a good paladin or priest healer with you because you are going to be the focus of most teams. You have to run come back healer, run, totem drop, cc out key people, come back, keep tremor down. The key to staying alive is more resilience. Just keep putting it on.
As for tactics when healing, Earthshield the focus target, riptide and GHW him – use healing surge if you need a quick heal, but it’s really inefficient. Healing wave on anyone who isn’t being focused. Watch the CC, get Gladius, and use Wind shear to interrupt – fears and heals. Keep grounding totem down and near you as well as rotating Earthbind with stoneclaw when kiting and when helping peal. Purge all druid heals and any buffs on the focus target, and cleanse everything except living bomb and that freaking lock curse that explodes.
IF you are solo healing than good luck, because you are going to be hunted down or cc’d out. Pray you have a good group, and remember no one can kill you 1v1 so don’t worry if you only have a single guy on you, heal yourself, earthbind him, and ghw yourself to a better location to keep healing. It’s tough, and exhausting work, but trust me resto shamans are crazy tough to bring down in arena unless there are dk’s involved. ;p
Finally don't forget the value of tremor totem against spriests and locks.
