Very viable. There's was a 2v2 team of a Prot Warrior and a Holy Pally that used to be orbiting 2500 rating this season, but now that it's been reset to 1500 I can't find it for the life of me.
Basically put Vigilance on the other guy, have Vengence stack (very few classes can dispel enrage effects, and it's rare to find them in 2v2s) and profit. Also, this is an extremely sturdy setup, so any 2 dps combination will most likely lose the war of attrition.
On 3v3s and 5v5 you'll be more of the annoying guy, instead of the killer, but still very useful.
Finally, if you're asking for a PvP rotation, you're doing it wrong.

Well, I had arena in mind, but obviously in BGs it might be even better. Carrying the flag with Warbringer and Leap is just pure awesome and defending nodes can give your team a LOT of time.

No, like I said it was this season. I was checking the ladder this week to see if the top rated Warriors where getting Gag Order or leaning towards Piercing Howl, and found that duo to my surprise. I was thinking about it today and came up with the Vigilance guess and decided to test it out and see how high it stacks, how fast it drops, etc.

I'd like to know how rage starved you guys think Prot is. If rage seems to be an issue then I feel Piercing Howl is overrated considering you can spec deeper into Arms tree to get Drums of War. You could also mix and match some Crit rating gained from Fury tree for Second Wind and/or Tactical Mastery. I personally would favour a Drums of War build. Maybe we'll be seeing more Prot Warriors going into Second Wind as gear gets better?
Edit: Although having said that I guess it depends if you consider Battle Trance to have more rage management in the long term rather than Drums of War & Tactical Mastery if you like to stance dance.
