Anyone else find the expansion 'disappointing'?

People complaining because they feel like complaining.
80-85 has been fun for me, I enjoy the linearity of the questing, the dungeons and mobs are much more difficult than in previous expansions, and heroics are actually hard.
People complaining about less content? How often did you venture into other zones during wrath? Other than questing, daily questing you spent most of the time in Dalaran.
They did it differently this expansion, 1-60 needed an overhaul, and they did it and I am pretty excited to level new characters in the revamped zones.
If I had to complain about anything, I'd say it's too quick to get to 85, I've only done hyjal/deepholm a few dungeons and I'm already 85.
Oh and yes I did read the quests, I was in no rush.

However, for those with no desire to level alternate characters, this expansion offers less in the way of new content than any of the previous ones.
That was the point I failed to make in my earlier post.
I guess I don't understand the point. If you only want to experience
less than half
of the new content created with this expansion, then of course this expansion offers less to you.
Conversely, if you want to experience
all
the new content ofthis expansion, Cataclysm offers far more than any other expansion.
I know of people who have played one character for six years.
This, I've had my mage since the release of BC and another mage I played in vanilla. Two characters over 6 years...and guess what, I still love the expac.
it's not about leveling to me, it's about content. Leveling 80-85 was fine, sure there weren't many options, but at least you could choose your starting zone and go from there. I hit 85 sometime on wednesday and have been furiously running heroics and already have an avg ilvl of 347. But I also experienced the leveling content too, getting 4 loremaster achievements in the new zones.
I haven't done many LFD randoms because frankly there are too many crappy players in this game, "Wrath heroes" we like to call them. They don't understand simple mechanics that wrath completely ignored. The heroics can be hard, but for the most part it's just about learning new content.
I am very excited to get my feet wet raiding next week.

A Big Continent > Couple of small zones. (+ Vashj'ir give me headache, make cata zones much smaller for me in total.)And you know....pretty much all of Kalimdor and EK being reworked too.....

BTW Cataclysm is teh win. WAY more lore involved, quests are more exilerating after the first few in new areas
I found the quests to be too mundane. They lack the immersiveness found in Wrath and BC. Standard formula is:
breadcrumb to quest hub
3 quests - kill 10 badies, help 10 goodies, collect 10 items
repeat this two or three times.
Kill mini boss and/or collect storyline item.
repeat...

Even though the numbers needed for each level were masive , it was too easy to hit 85. Personally I would have thought making us go to 90 would have made it feel more like a progression , rather than just a top up of content.
What Blizzard have achived is some stunning new areas and I think some of the quests and lore work well. How ever there is far too many cut scenes and auto quests , which just irritates most people.

You haven't even played it and your disappointed by what you hear other people say? Try playing it before you judge it.
Just like you should not respond to stuff before reading it through right?
Fail.
As for the rest, I haven't experienced any major UI changes, the leveling is great, very epic with all the cutscenes, CC doesn't really need to be used until Heroic (or so I hear, only 81 myself), 1-60 is waaaaaaaaaaay cooler now, phasing is awesome and the classes or more varied now than ever before.

I like the talent changes.
I like the UI changes.
I'm neutral about the stat changes. (Not a huge fan of the inflation, but they couldn't do much else with how poorly planned wrath was.)
I like the leveling experience, I'm having a blast with my Goblin and I appreciate the faster leveling.
Haven't had a chance to play the new dungeons since I just got cata yesterday and I've only been playing my Goblin Mage so far.
(I disagree with the above post about BC being "sandbox" just because you can skip a few zones doesn't really make it sandbox. Try Eve if you want real sandbox xD. Also the old content (1-60) is definitely feeling fresh with multiple paths to level in that are legit now, it's nice not having to level in Ghostlands over again)

No need for CC in dungeons? I don't know which game some of you are playing, but it's surely different from mine. Yeah, I can with some luck outheal an unlucky pull. But not a whole dungeon long.
If there is something I dislike about the expansion, it has remarkably little to do with what Blizzard has done, but how the people who play it are treating it now.
I have been raiding since Karazhan, but granted, I've never been one to be first on the battlefield. Recently I changed guild, and I'm currently in a loss what to do. Yeah, I want to raid. But I first want to get my gear in normal dungeons, and venture in heroics, do the quests, bring up my rep for other gear and enchanting stuff, level my professions.
But I am currently stuck in the hordes of people on my server who seemed to think that getting to 85 was something best done within the first 48 to 72 hours, and are already whining that 'there is nothing to do, I'm bored, and there are not enough tanks for heroics'.
My guild had decided before cata came out to put off raiding until mid-January to give people the time to level up and enjoy the game, but now they are already talking about doing a raid run on Thursday, 'as we have enough 85'. My gear is barely scraping by for heroics.
On this rate...forget raiding. I'm going to level alts, run an instance when I want to, instead of having the feeling I have to devote all my spare time to the game to keep up.
Perhaps if people would take a step back and actually ENJOY the game for a whole few weeks instead of trying to tackle the whole thing like you need to conquer it within days it wouldn't feel so dissapointing.....

I played through Vashj'ir, Deepholm, Uldum, and started Twilight Highlands before I hit 85. I ran Stonecore once from the start and twice because someone left group on the sentries. Both times I got into Stonecore after half way was a challenge because people do not understand how to play their toons. And yes, it's bad when you have to tell the group to hold on a minute while you go ask your boy friend how to tank this part, for the third time in one room. After the first pull in the sentry room, I knew they would have to be taken out first. The rest of the group was still trying to tank and spank the whole thing.
I just love Vashj'ir which is also my biggest complaint. I know I missed a couple of quests in kelp forest but I didn't see any dailies in that area. Which means, why would anyone ever go back there. Even though I already have the sea turtle and the epic fishing pole, the seahorse and underwater breathing where nice but what is the point if you never get to use them again. Kind of like the battle tanks from AQ40, why even have them? So going back to that zone is probably not going to happen. Which really disappoints me. I hope Blizzard adds a daily or two in that zone before long.
As far as the leveling content goes, it has been very easy for me. I didn't even die until I got to Uldum and I only died there, 3 times. I doubled that number on the Naga quest in Twilight Highlands but so far pretty easy. So far the professions look to be a challenge, which is good. Not like hitting the profession cap 2 hours after you pick up cold weather flying at level 70.

Wow, much bitterness I do taste. OP, go play it then come back and tell us how you feel.
I started playing around a half an hour after launch, sure there were a few speed bumps along the way with so many people questing 'together', but I hit 85 within 2 days. Then I started working on professions, rep and gear on that toon. Also I leveled a Worgen up to 20. I have 0 issues with the interface changes and mechanic changes.
I haven't tried archaeology or rated BG's (or tol barad) yet. So I still have a ways to go myself. Yet here you are talking about what you don't like....and you haven't even played it.
So, once again, play the expac, then review it.
I have played it. I have 82 dk. And i was not disappointing in wotlk and much less disappointing in this cata game. Always when a new game goes to stores, then game is better. This happened here, WOW is better now.

The questing in Cata is really amazingly good. I really love the cut-scenes you sometimes get (especially in Uldum and TH) and I think they're exceedingly well laid out. The latest 'just click on the ?' to complete are wonderful, not having to go back to someone. Also, I was just in a cave area completing some quests lately. The last one was to kill some boss or other and then take a portal. The portal took you back to the entrance of the cave to complete the quest, so you didn't have to back track through the whole cave to get there.
Excellent Blizzard.
And that's just the questing.
Cheers.
