Eh... If you can't handle retcons, pick a different game, if you ask me... :PAgain, it's not the retcons that bother me. (I play draenei, which is just about
guaranteed
to get someone screeching about ruined lore or "plot holes." Enough said.) You'll notice that when I listed the things I didn't like about the worgen, I didn't mention it? And that when I replied to the OP's complaint about druids, I was kind of dismissive about it?
What bothers me is the fickleness of the fanbase in their reaction to retcons, and I really don't want to get into another argument over it.

Hey um Farseer, i read your x-pack concept. I liek.
The only thing I hate about Worgen as a race is the fact that Boots don't display, and actually, now that I think about it, their walking animation.

all
been petty, really) with a shrug, then crying "ruined FOREVER!" on the next.
That
is what I meant by fickleness.
Hell, part of the reason why I've quit disliking worgen quite so much (although the female model still looks like a train wreck) is because I found out that a few people
were
crying "ruined FOREVER!" on them.

Eh, I wouldn't admit it right after the announcement, and while I do like goblins, I'm more than a little bit jealous of the alliance, that's my only beef with the furries.
Heh, beef, furries.... Tauren... hehe...Uhh...

1 - that they can transform to/from humans just like generic werewolves
...Okay? When you are told you can play a werewolf, what more do you expect?
2 - permanent snarl on face
Vicious monsters generally don't appeal to the cute crowd.
3 - male worgen dance
All new dances suck in my opinion. There's nothing more you can do about it. Some people like it, some people don't.
4 - that they don't have their own 2nd levelling zone (ie they go to darkshore after gilneas)
From what I've heard, a lot go to Silverpine. Also, neither do Goblins, so it's not much to complain about.
5 - that they don't get their own capital city
They get a district. Albeit Goblins do get a bit more in Azshara, and Thousand Needles, so I'll agree with you here.
6 - that they don't have their own mounts
Matter of personal opinion. I kind of wanted to collect their mount on my main, but there's not much to be done here. Fits the race, but not equality on the game. Nothing really to complain about though.
7 - that they get running wild because Blizzard didn't have any idea about what mounts they should give them and trying to justify running wild seems perfect for them. For me, running on all fours, a - when you have fingers on fore limbs, b - are wearing gloves/gauntlets, c - your fore limbs are shorter than your hind limbs, doesn't make any sense at all. But, in a fantasy game where you can shoot fireballs and stuff, I don't think this is so crazy.
This is pretty much the same as the last complaint. Your addresses don't make much of a difference here at all, except the gloves, and boots, and only then boots can cause any real threat to the actual speed. Again, as said it's very fitting for a werewolf to run, rather than mount. And yes, they did have an idea for the mount. The concept picture they showed at '09 Blizzcon suggested a Barghest. The beast doesn't exist in the Warcraft universe, so it wouldn't make much sense.
8 - they don't get paladins even though they are former humans
Humans afflicted with a dark curse. That can have a bit of trouble when mixing with a pure holy warrior of light. Notice they now get Druids due to their closer touches with nature, and their alliance with the Night Elves.

Technically, the Gnomes and Dwarves are the same: They do their 1-5 zone, then both do Dun Morogh....and Orcs and Trolls have it happen to them too. This isn't a new thing, races double up, part of the game.

1 - most of the players wanted worgen to be a completely different creature, not a transformed human. Even if we got a transformed human, did we have to retain the ability to transform back to human? The worgen king standing as a human in Stormwind looks pretty bad.
2 - the old worgen faces weren't cute. They were normal. Have you ever seen wolves?
They don't snarl all the time.
They snarl only when angry. The new worgen faces look like they are pissed all the time. Those new faces will scare the hell out of the orphans during children's week.
4 - No, they don't go to Silverpine. But to Darkshore as far as I've heard. Goblins get Lost Isles and Azshara (both horde territory made for levelling goblins, but Azshara is open to all hordies) after Kezan.
5 - They get
one single
tree in Darnassus and no district in Stormwind as far as I've heard. Goblins get a huge island town in Azshara which is half the size of a capital.
8 - Don't know about the dark curse. I think it hasn't been confirmed either in or out of the game.

Vicious monsters generally don't appeal to the cute crowd. No one said "cute," and the female model doesn't look "vicious," either. In my opinion, the female alpha model and the male face with the teeth covered both looked like they'd bite you if you annoyed them, and that wouldn't take much doing.
The concept picture they showed at '09 Blizzcon suggested a Barghest. The beast doesn't exist in the Warcraft universe, so it wouldn't make much sense."Barghest" was a fan name for it, not official. And it wouldn't be the first time something new was added to the game.

That's not what I'm arguing per say. It's the fact that the as you leave the goblin starter area you immediately see their presence as you continue in the leveling path. You head out of the Lost Isle and sent to Ashara and what do you see, Goblins everywhere taking care of business.
Now as a worgen once you join the alliance instead of heading into a zone where your worgen brothers and sisters are proving your worth, you just go into an area full of NE's, no worgen in sight. The problem is not that worgens have a place for jstu them, it's just that they don't get any coexisting questlines at all once you leave.
The continuation of the their plot in their starter areas continues in the Undead leveling section of Silverpine and from what I heard you get some worgen related stuff in Darkshire, but that's all the way in Eastern kingdom as part of the human area. So we have to stories relating to worges, and unless you put effort of getting there (playing an Undead from the horde side, or heading all the way to Easter kingdom do westfall and then Dusk wood) then your worgen will not be anywhere near the area. Goblins on the other hand get to the meat of what their people are doing as soon as they leave Orgrimmar.
Silverpine is still Horde though; that hasn't changed at all. Having a sudden Alliance quest hub opening up in a Horde 10-20 zone is just strange; you'd be expecting to see the Horde get hubs in something like Westfall or the like. Beyond that..meh; the 'Worgen' experience in Silverpine is about Godfry leading a group of non-cursed Gilneas to try to wipe out the Forsaken and the Worgen Gilneas.
As for the Goblins; Azshara is their 'new' homeland, seeing as the Isles are gone when your done. It's just like Teldrassil to Darkshore, or Durotar to the Barrens(which is a combo zone of Tauren, Trolls and Orcs), Elywnn to Westfall/Redridge, and so on.

For those that cry foul on the Worgen going into the NE questline, I think this "potentially" accurate article will help you make sense of why they are doing this:
http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/10/27/know-your-lore-the-tinfoil-hat-worgen-edition/
Basically, Pack Form was created by NE Druid's back in the day.
Um...that's a Tin Foil Hat; IE complete and utter speculation, nothing is backed up by any true evidence, and it's not confirmed in any way shape or form by Blizzard itself. See the 'Elune is a Naaru' TFH article as well to see another WMG.

That was one of the worst speculations I've ever read. Must have been a slow news day on that horrible site.
