I haven't looked at it yet, but tooltip are supposed to be showing actual damage now. Just switch around gear, or start naked and grab gear, and write down all the numbers. Should be easy to graph the info and get the scaling factor.

I think all that matters, is that you know it's out hardest hitting ability. With 12kish AP, I was critting around 40k in ICC with Shield Block up.
Basically, it scales really, really well with AP, just like a Paladin's Shield of the Righteous now does.

All you have to do is take damage. Poof, low AP problem solved.

The other problem is that vengeance is constantly changing.
Like I said, look at your tooltip. Look at your character sheet AP. Change gear. Look at the two again. Graph it, best fit line it, and you'll have your base damage and scaling factor.

I didn't mean to use Vengeance as a theorycrafting tool. I just meant it was the way to solve low damage output problems... take in damage.

So I did what I said to do and came up with this:
AP ----Damage
3764 4659
3398 4302
3194 4103
2922 3838
2742 3663
2376 2797
2196 2648
1990 2478
1718 2254
1440 2025
1234 1855
1030 1686
I just took off one piece of gear at a time and look at the numbers.
It came out interesting, actually. There are two distinct groupings here. The first five give an equation of 0.97x + 990.2 with an R=1, and the second set of seven gives an equation of 0.82x + 836.77, also with an R=1.
Mmm, that's actually with Glyph of Shield Slam included. Subtracting out the 110% damage modifier, you end up with 0.89x+900 for the top set and 0.75x+760.7 for the bottom set (both R=1).
So those equations are exactly correct. It seems to say that with the higher AP values the AP scaling factor is higher and the base damage is higher. Weird.
At this point I don't really care to play around with it much more. But there's your ballpark; without damage modifiers, the AP scaling for shield slam is 0.89 and initial damage is 900, for AP values of 2700 to 3700.

all i can say with the new shield slam (with shield block active too)
awesome damage.... 32k crit on some trash is fun... ranked 10th on our 25m icc trash clearing before marrowgar
that rend thunderclap combo also did good on these trash mobs...
using ilevel 200 shield still... HoR normal and 10s lootship just won't drop for me...

After 2 10 (ish) minute long sessions (BG que pops >.>) I have some results (altho far from professional).
BGs are the worst place to test that. To hae anywhere near reliable results you'd have to know the resil of each target. You'll be seeing far diferent numbers from someone with 0resil vs. someone with 1500.

I think he meant his testing was interrupted by BG pops, not that he did the testing in a BG.

I don't know much about the physics and number behind everything, I have hit for a just under 12k SS at level 74 last weekend during the EotS. I have yet to even come close to that again, but generally I hit SS for between 4-8k depending on what I have up for buffs.

Vengeance Buffed. Probably on a 3 Inhale Stack Festergut.
If you are talking about the damage buff during the Festergut fight, it's not the inhales but the 9 stack that the tank gets. I was pulling 65k shield slams during that time (15k DPS).

IIRC, Inhaled blight doesn't increase your AP, it's just a direct bonus to all damage done.

Vengeance will only give you a maximum of 10% of your health as AP. So that means, my warrior, in his mostly 264 gear, with 70k buffed health in ICC, has about 5.2k AP raid-buffed, and gets another 7k attack power as long as he's getting pummelled hard enough.
