I won't say "idiots," but I will say that people don't pay attention.
As for beating Sargeras? I hope that—
at most
—we get to do, as a raid, what Aegwynn in her prime did solo: delete his latest alt for him, as it were.

Actually, it was referring to the Azerothian people; even when the threat is just sealed away, some of the races act like it was defeated completely, and will never return....even though they should know better by now. Same thing happens in real life; some big enemy nation is supposedly beaten, so the world returns to normal...then they act all shocked when, 5 years later, the enemy, not beaten and back to full strength, hits them again. As I said; people are idiots, and humans as whole are good at pretending all evil is gone once it's out of sight.

Yes, but I'm a sarcastic ass so it's entirely possible it could have been read that the players are idiots....and some of them are heh.

I think Dragonfighter was talking about players, and I certainly interpreted Adams's reply as being about players as well.
As to whether or not characters in-universe think that? Hard to say.

Well, the RPG books were ''written by Brann Bronzebeard'' who thinks that we didn't even cause a scratch on the Legion when Hyjal happened. But he says that because the people commonly believe that Hyjal was a major victory and sometimes even manage to extrapolate the true meaning of the Battle - it was big and caused great damage, but the Legion is far from dead. It'd be something of a surprise if characters in-universe
still
believed that after BC. I mean, big damn demon lord tried to sneak in, and it's at least somewhat well-known that he wasn't actually killed?

I mean, big damn demon lord tried to sneak in, and it's at least somewhat well-known that he wasn't actually killed?Except there are players who went into the raid, and even though they saw him sucked back into the summoning circle, think that we did 'kill' KJ; not that hard to believe that your average mortal on Azeroth could think the same thing.
And there are those who don't see the threat till it arrives to kick in their door, and drag the people out of the home by the hair.

Also there are countless demon all around the universe. Even if we kill Sargeras, he was only the one who created the Legion and gathered all the races that form it nowadays. Someone else could step up as the new leader of the Legion.

And you seriously think that peasantry is as stupid as the average WoW player?
Some of them? Yes easily; look at those who keep pushing for war against the Horde, while threats such as the Legion, the Scourge, the Naga, Deathwing and his flight and all the others out there are beating down the door. Stupidity exists in the average grunt on both sides.

People believe the Legion has been defeated because we hadn't hear about them since TBC (with the exception of Mal'ganis in ICC) be them players of actual citizens the lack of a demonic treat would make the most optimistic (or naive) people believe than the Legion is no more.

But those who become heroes, or have heroism thrust upon them? In other words, someone who might have been
there
? That seems a bit iffy.
And there are those who don't see the threat till it arrives to kick in their door, and drag the people out of the home by the hair.Well, yes, there is that.
