Wrong. It suppresses the empathy in people that didn't have much to begin with. I'm a pretty empathic guy, play on a PvP server (and always have) and I would rather help than hinder Alliance players (yes, I'm Horde if you hadn't guessed it). Not that this is always easy.. or understood... or appreciated...
That's like saying you have "empathy" for the pawns you knock off the board in chess or "empathy" for the players you tag in a game of Capture the Flag.
It's treating PvP with mores appropriate to real life.
It's taking the game too seriously.
Gasp, it's almost like there's real people behind the characters! *shocked*

Ever heard that every rule has exceptions? It's a saying. So you are different. I do know that you are not the only one like that. I still think my post has nothing wrong with it. It was a pretty generic statement to begin with.
I think you misunderstood my post. Or maybe I didn't communicate properly. Anyway, it wasn't as serious as it may have sounded. I just wanted to say that not everyone on PvP severs are griefers. Though it is easier to remember the griefers vs. those that ignore you or even help you...

The LFD tool effectively removes one of the funnest things to do for Hordies this time of year, defend the monestary from Allies trying to get to the Horsemen. No QQ here since my guild went back to a PvE realm, but I have to say I'll miss the world PvP from back in the day.
I know the PvP servers naturally supress empathy in people, but did you ever think about how much "fun" it was for the other side?
Tons of fun. I play pvp servers for two reasons, one is the ability to attack the other faction at will, the other is the ability to exact revenge if/when I get ganked. Both are fun and both get me fired up. Both do not exist on pve servers.
People who truly enjoy pvp don't care when they get ganked, they view it as an opportunity to go on the hunt and exact your revenge.
I have video footage of 20~ish vs 20~ish guild fights in EPL back in vanilla that started because 1 guy from guild A ganked a guy from guild B, who called on some help and ganked the guy back, who then called on more help until everyone online from both guilds were duking it out. That's world pvp. If you don't enjoy that, play on pve.

There are many possible ways you can convince yourself that griefing is okay. I have never played on a PvE server, and i see certain flaws in your post, but since it is your personal opinion, it does not matter.

I'm glad they changed. It makes getting the Horseman much easier for casual players such as myself. I spend enough time running to each candy bucket
Casuals don't post on Wowhead, nor do they care. Casuals are focused on things being fun, not things being easy, or getting from the starting point to the reward as fast as possible.
Er...I'm generally considered a casual, and I post here. I do agree with that second part though. Fun > Easy.

Griefing is the reward you get for being higher level than someone else, hence why there are no penalties for doing so.

Essentially you're claiming that you enjoy schadenfreude (the suffering of others), and that you are the one responsible for that 'suffering'. Even if it's at a minor level, ganking can inconvenience the other player, so roughly you're enjoying being an inconvenience to others.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that constitutes sociopathic tendency, but it could be construed as a little, uh . . . 'prickish'?

No, what I'm claiming is that when petitioned, Blizzard will not only tell you that ganking is condoned, but lauded on a pvp server. It's part of the game.
I never said I enjoyed ganking or that I gank, I just said it's completely legal to do. But hey, people like to blow stuff out of proportion here, so it's no surprise I get called a sociopath.
Captcha: Recon knockend. I like that insult better.

My bad. I was getting your post confused with the guy who said that he did enjoy ganking.
Speaking of petitions, sometimes Blizzard will take action. If the ganking blooms into harassment, they can (and will) take action, regardless of the server type. But most of the time, you're right - they won't say a thing.
One of the reasons I play on a PvE server. I prefer taking my PvP when I want it.

Anyone that enjoys winning in competitive online video games does. Stop pretending you're better then anyone else, nobodies buying it. If you play to win, you enjoy "schadenfreude" as we all know losing causes distress, which is suffering.
Sorry but if you rolled on a pvp server, you're fine with being ganked. If not, you made the wrong choice in server. Period.

Persecution complex much? I'd ask you to point out where I said, "I'm better than these people!"
I rolled on a PvE server because I knew that's what I wanted. I PvP at times, because I enjoy it - but I only want that experience
when I want it
, not at the whim of someone else.
By the by, if you'll note there are people (Thror) who play on PvP servers but seem to dislike ganking. Some people roll on a PvP server for the challenge of open world PvP, and yet still never gank.

There is a difference between playing and winning a game, and preventing the game from even being played.
Not in this case, as you CHOSE to have the chance to be prevented from playing the game . So really, there is no difference. If there was only one type of server, PVP, I would agree with you, but too many people select the WRONG server type for their playstyle and then cry about being ganked.
Just leave if you don't like it. Those of us who are meant to be here enjoy the thrill of a fight breaking out at any moment.

Wow Aestu, way to stereotype....
Casuals such as myself (I consider myself to be casual because I don't press through end game content like I have a deadline, but rather meander and enjoy the scripts and challenges) do enjoy the holiday events, more so I believe than most hardcore players because it allows us do to things that are rewarding and challenging at the same time.
The fact is that Blizz did a favor to the lowbies out there with the LFD so that they could reach places like SM, RFC and Stocks without being griefed or camped. There are people out there who do not like spending all of their time running back to their bodies just so a few can feel "challenged", and the ganking happens even on PvE servers at this time of the year. If you don't like it.....Please feel free to make a group in trade, fly out to Southshore or Chillwind Camp and then ride to SM after flagging PvP and killing any NPCs you find.
But I have better things to do with my time than mess around with world PvP over a holiday boss after taking 20+ minutes to get there. So I am all for the LFD for the holiday bosses, let's me queue and do all of my other dailies quickly so I can raid or level my alts.

I play Alliance and I would prefer the inconvenience of being ganked to a totally homogeneous "Candy Land" game where everyone just gets along.
Um, I'm casual and I post here. I think it is a good change to make it so the hard core PvP people can't make the game a frustrating mess for people who aren't that into PvP and just want to see the game content and have a chance to get the achievement
