[4.0.1] Is it me or is Hunter's DPS compared to other classes horrible?

I'm not sure why there's all the anger about the QQ in this thread. Look at the title, it was created for this purpose. If you look at the parses for when this thread was created, we were getting owned by every other ranged class and most of the melee. I'm just glad I'm not a Rogue, their damage looks to be way down...at least in my guild.
I ran my usual 25 man ICC last night with my guild and was presently surprised by my upswing in DPS. Even my AoE damage appeared to be higher (I'm MM), creeping close to 9k. With the crazy crit rates and 2 points in
Bombardment
I was able to spam the hell out of Multishot, which didn't seem to be hitting like a 10 year old girl anymore. For single target fights, I was right on par with my pre-4.0.1 numbers, but was still in the middle of the pack on most fights because, "compared to other classes", my DPS is horrible.
For those of you who keep telling people that if they don't like the Hunter class right now to stfu and re-roll, I say...thanks for the constructive addition to this conversation. I'd rather people come here and write their frustrations than give up on the class they obviously enjoy enough to be angry about.

Multishot is honestly
much better than Volley
, in terms of playability. It's a real shot (no channeling) and you can use it while moving, instead of placing that damned green-circle on the ground while standing still. That said, damage from Volley was higher, yes, but as said before... I don't really care. I have more fun now (and I see more utility).

I question the methodology of how that was collected (as seen on page 6) because it way, way too all-encompassing...I'd like to see more about what parses exactly were collected for that information. Was it all raids from WoL for the time period, only certain raids, only certain fights?
If it's OVERALL damage for Hunters right now, then I agree it shows just how disgusting our AoE DPS is.
I'd like to see information about only boss DPS for all of those classes.
Edit: These are honest questions and not meant to minimize the effort the poster went to to collect this data. Obviously, this is much more comprehensive than the stuff I've posted. I'd just like to learn a little more about it.
The collector I think used WorldofLogs, which as I last recalled doesn't record overall, but rather individual boss encounters in terms of DPS.
Besides, if there was aoe trash packs counted, Druid and Paladin damage would have been significantly higher, even counting the healers.

While true, it is painful to OOF in the other 2 specs (though we do get Worm in BM and Serpent Spread in Surv)

If you are not happy with the product, you are free to stop to pay it. You do not own your account, you just pay Blizzard the right to use it (it is all in the huge legal text that people blindly click Accept every patch).

We are customers anyway. As soon as I pay for something, I become a customer. If you rent a car and the car does not work as intended, for example, you can go back to the seller and ask for another car/model, a refund, whatever. At least that's how car-renting works in my country, of course. The term "as intended" is very subjective in a videogame, that's the real problem.
Same goes for your/my account. You technically do not "possess" it, but you can claim your rights of "customer" if something is going wrong. Of course no one stops Blizzard to ignore you, as (very) often happens... but we
are
customers, in every aspect. And if you're a customer, you're entitled to obeject Blizz's decisions.

And my job as localizer is to translate english terms to my own language. Not to properly write in english.
One would think that someone who is supposed to be translating from English to $LANGUAGE would have a firm grasp of both to ensure accurate translation.

Sure, the "
use yourself as tank
" technique when mass-killing a pack of lower-level mobs does not work anymore. But the new "endless" Misdirect solves the problem (no more mobs agroing you when spamming Multishot). MD, throw 1-2 traps, multi (and some Mendpet when needed). It works like a charm. It made my solo-Zul runs *much* smoother than before, for example.

If you have to kill it in 10 seconds... you cannot die "instantly". So you have other tools to save yourself (
scatter shot, disengage, trap, feign, , ...
). In any case, using Volley withing 0 yards
could
save your toon -yes- but only when fighting low level mobs (with a "slow" dps). In that case, trap + endless_md + multishot completely avoid the aggro situation, making Volley on yourself totally useless.
Another interesting point: multi can be used
on the move
and works on moving mobs too (if they run away, run to you, run to some party member, knock you back, ...). Volley required a "standing still" position and was crappy when mobs were not sticking the tank/pet. Plus, it had a stupid 1-sec "not doing dps yet" effect: I often forgot Viper "on" while casting Volley... and I had time to cancel the channeling without triggering Misdirection (then I switched to Hawk and actually re-start channeling Volley, ofc). Not to mention that with 2/2 in
Concussive Barrage
you daze them for 4 sec.
We lost some useful things (uber-dps, 0-yard range) but we gained better ones (aoe on while moving, powerful mendpet, endless misdirection, talent to reduce focus cost, ...). All of these "additions" make aoe-farming better than before. At least this is what I feel so far, while farming, running old raids/instances, etc.
I regularly farm
Zul'Gurub
(
pet, tiger mount, raptor mount, coins
, ...) and after patch 4.01 I run through mobs and bosses like a hot knife on butter (
MM
specced, using a
cat
). Volley damage was nice but overall -even considering the lower dps- I mass-kill mos much faster, due to less time wasted with mana, aggro management, pet healing, etc.
More than merely comparing a single spell vs. another one (
Volley
vs
Multishot
) I would consider the overall picture. In that sense -PVE wise because I rarely PVP- I think our class is doing better. And -as said above- AOE farming is fun, easier and less time-wasting.

Aside, I play since the Beta of the game and I saw the whole mentality of Pure DPS on top and Hybrid do crap damage to something pretty equal. And this is good change because why would you bring a hybrid DPS if it do less damage than a pure DPS? They NEED to do equal damage, else you will take the best one and the other will be left out.

Wildhorn must have a druid as a main. They will bring the hybrid classes so that on fights that need 3 tanks, the DPS druid can pop bear form and fill the role. This means they won't have to bring a 3rd tank that will be useless DPS on 2 tank fights. That same druid, thanks to dual spec, can then pop into Resto spec and be a raid healer for fights that require an extra one. Hybrid's should be able to do competetive DPS, but they should never be able to top the meters so that pure DPS classes like Rogues and Hunters would be mandatory to get bosses killed before enrage timers. It's called the
Hybrid Tax
, and it's the price you are supposed to pay for playing a versatile class that is virtually a one man raid team.
