Really wowhead isnt "giving away haikos to the best"
They're just giving them away to people with high post counts, who submit haikos.
It's kinda gay.

To everyone trying to make a distinction between "real" haiku and "fake" haiku here, let me just say: traditionally, a haiku has to be about SEASONS (and, use Japanese seasonal words). And since Azeroth (apparently) doesn't have seasons (and, these poems are all in English), that means that, technically, a traditional haiku can't be about WoW.
So get off your high horses. Or high kodos, as the case may be.

Not only that, but it's technically not even 5-7-5 syllables either, but rather 5-7-5 "mora", which isn't the same thing at all. That's not even mentioning Kigo and Kireji... :)

After reading through the discussions on this thread i think some people are missing the point of poetry. Poetry doesn't necessarily have to be something flowery or deep or something only a pretentious "art student" would write. It just has to be creative, whether that be a beautiful image or just a funny, clever quip.
When Matt Harvey, Wimbledon's poet laureate, was tasked with writing a poem about the recent tennis match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut (the longest recorded tennis match ever) he wrote a haiku that went:
High performance play.
All day and yet no climax.
It's tantric tennis.
More creative than "lolz dont stand in fire" of course, but it's not much more than a clever sex joke. If there could be a wow equivalent of this haiku, this thread would probably damn it as going for a cheap laugh and not being "artistic enough." Just please keep this in mind when you judge someone who makes a haiku here that is just for laughs.
Thanks. Now...bring on the art hate! :)

O_o how would you divide it into 3 syllables? By my count it's cham-pions - 2.
Then again english isn't my native language ;|
