There seems to me that there is an increase in accounts being hacked and stuff sold and the gold passed on to other people for re-sale. Not sure if this has always happened but it just seems a lot more people are saying ‘hey I just got my account hacked’ etc.
Surely Blizzard and the GM’s in the game can trace whom the gold was sent to. Say you get hacked and they sell everything you own and then pass the gold on. This can be traced I would think, any transaction would leave a trace whether it be a mail box or toon to toon handover.
I just can’t see why they cannot trace who the gold has been passed to and shut down their account.
One of the reason’s (conspiracy theory I hear you cry) it that Blizzard really don’t care if players get hacked and loose everything because they know the player will get everything back after a while. Gold sellers / hackers get free gold, which to Blizzard is worthless (it’s just in game money) and also it give Blizzard an accuses to sell Authenticator and make even more cash.
I can see no other reason why they cant stop this if they wanted to, trace where the gold has gone and put a stop to these low life’s destroying people’s fun.

Whoa just a second there.
First off I know people visit sites they shouldn’t do and share account info etc. I’m not saying people don’t.
What I am saying is that if an account gets hacked and gold is passed on then they should be able to trace said hack and disable the account to where the gold has gone.
This would stop a lot of the hacks from happening in the first place, but it just seems that a blind eye is turned and that hackers have nothing to fear, so more and more hack’s happen, as it seems to be. Pretty sure everyone know someone in game that's been hacked.
As for investing in something to keep my account safe, surely the money I pay once a month should already do that for me ?
And Monkeysammich ….. what kind of argument is that ?

The account hacking will stop when people learn to secure their PC's and stop being so naive online. It's not Blizzard responsibility to protect your account. The authenticator was the best thing they have, just blame them for not keeping up with demand.

Again, they do that; they track where the gold goes(that's where the old blanket bans came from), and they try to disable it before it's sent off again. And most hacks now a days are due to bad sites; hell, even Facebook has a few keyloggers in it now.... so yeah, know what your using, and keep your own account safe, which keeps the hacker from using yours to continue the trend.

The "fun" part is: a lot of it isn't even hacking, but phishing and/or scams.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gnub##DELIM##
