Heh, Obama.
Don't even get me started on him, mk?
I'll die of anger.
I thought something went wrong with that, like a deadline for paperwork was missed?
No idea.

That's not really the point though Funden; it's the fact that it was opened in the first place, and actually seen as a good idea..... that right there, shows there was something massively wrong with the government, and should have thrown up warning signs all across the world. I mean, to me, that single move proved they were no better then the 'terrorist' they were supposed to be fighting....

Was GITMO ever discussed on American news channels? If so, how long after it was opened?
Hmm... I'm not exactly the best source (I was one of those idiots that didn't pay attention to the news until a few years ago) but I believe that it was in the news around when it opened. And it is discussed.

But if there current system is trying to put it down does that mean it is still corrupt and bad? It was added under Bush (ugh) and is trying to be removed under Obama. Does that still make the country evil?

Yes; because though some people want it close, there are still many who want it open... and seeing as the 'War on Terror' is over, you have to wonder who they want to throw in there next......

I don't know what you are listening to, but people don't feel that way anymore.

Aye, back when it was first formed. Now it is seen as bad by the majority of the people. (notice in my post I used the present tense "is", not "was". It is discussed now and is seen as a bad thing).

That's more or less how it is for GITMO even now; sure Obama and his followers want it closed, but most of the military and those who think like them would rather have it open and doing what it does to 'protect freedom'...... even as they lock people up without due process, and a thousand other things they do those they call 'prisoners'.

You know, I'm done here. This seems to be the "America sucks and deserves no repentance thread."
Have fun raging without me.

Sorry you see it that way Funden.
But the honest truth is.... this scenario does play out in the States and how they treat other countries: for some reason, the government sees the need to respond in turn when it's attacked, with either the same weapon or something worse. Pearl Harbour get's bombed and a few hundred die, two full cities worth of people have to die in response. 9/11 happens, at the hands of the very same people the Americans helped to fund, means to go in and wipe them out to a man, and damn the consequences. Terrorists like dying in explosions, round up anyone of that skin colour, take them to a disease and rat infested prison camp, and torture them to get revenge for what they did. Unfortunately, when it comes to domestic terrorism, the States has a nice solid hold on that position, and they seem to be like that no matter who is the President and who the cabinet is. As one president put so simple: Walk softly and carry a big stick.... with said stick being anything from a club to a nuclear bomb to torture.

Sorry I see it that way? You come out and say that the government is evil, no better than terrorists and that America is bad, and then imply I am delusional, while simultaneously saying America sucks in the same post?
Good grief.

Thats pretty much the Japanesse's own fault.
Because they dropped the bomb?
"A remote outpost in the Middle East gets bombed and a few terrorists die, so a city block worth of people have to die in response. That's pretty much the American's own fault."
*cough*
