I mean, the game is called WARcraft, and is somewhat based around war and faction tensions, and achievements aren't solely from guild wars, what ever that is.

Achievements came from WAR, as did queuing for BGs anywhere in the world

Why not?
I prefer my PvP if and when I want it.

So, how I see this working:
In all zones there will points to capture (like in AB), any mines, lumber mills, and any guild capture it, it will give some cash into Guild Bank, you can spent gold on upgrading it..
Guild of one faction can buy the captured point through AH or trade window, Guild of opposite factions will fight over them...
and more you have of one type you get bonuses and achievments:
Ex. 10 mines = 10% discount for repair bills
This is kind of an interesting idea. as far as ALL ZONES, I'll pass but maybe one or two zones (maybe STV? its already infamous for pvp) Where there are certain locations to be captured and controlled by a guild. they'd be free to be capped by another guild in somewhere around 15-20 minutes. I for one am really disappointed with how WG works. I guess i can't say exactly why im disappointed, something about WG just isn't fun to me.
BUT, i think a couples zones that have some way of pulling people into doing some world pvp for small benifits of capping a little node or flag for 15-20 minutes could be kind of cool. "Hey.... i'm bored as hell! lets go cap something"
Could be fun... could be a complete waste of blizz devs time.
