This is the biggest problem with the dungeon finder tool. In the old days you and another person had to go to the entrance yourselves to summon the group, so you had to know where it was. Even if you were being summoned, you'd still be able to see where the place is on the world map. And you had to physically run to the instance portal.
The Carbonite Addon is great though. On the the Carbonite World Map it shows dungeon locations with a green egg like icon (like
this
). I recommend getting out there and questing, or at least reading Wowhead's articles on the dungeons before doing them. Usually there's a post or two telling how to get there. Also the dungeon quests tend to give you an idea of where the place is too.
It's pretty frustrating being the only one who can rez while dieing in Lower Blackrock Spire if this is your first toon. Chances are you have no idea where the place is. Blackrock Mountain was pretty confusing for me even when I
knew
what was in it, lol.

Do addons work with a mac? Where would I find them and see if they work?
Thanks!
Addons don't care what OS you're using.

EDIT: I miss the days when summoning stones weren't irrelevant and they had level range tags on them that actually meant something.
Back in my day those were Meeting Stones, and only Warlocks could summon

I assume it's all of them that are functionality parts of the same addon, so you move them all in your World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns folder. If you don't have one, create it.
Then when you launch the game, on the character selection screen you'll see a new button "AddOns", click it and make surethe option "Load outdated addons" is checked, just in case. Then you should be good to go.

Well back in
my
day there were no stones at all! And every instance was up hill, and you had to drudge through hip-deep snow to get there.

If you are going to get AddOns, I will recommend
Curse client
at the strongest.
I had the same problem as you, addOns wouldn't show up. Then I downloaded CurseClient and everything went smooth. You just create a account, logg inn, type in the AddOns you need, download them, and update them when they need so. /cheers

so basically, Storm Peaks and Ulduar?
I had that with my first death in the new ICC 5mans. Died the first time, and then flew towards the arrow on my map... wait, no, this isnt the entrance, this is the front door... err.....
Also had a Healer die during Gundrak (the damn snake boss) and zone back in... above the mammoth boss.
And my joys with BRD ages ago. I didn't even go there in non-ghost form until recently. Just summons.
