I have to say, I completely disagree with the writer. How he can claim that putting things on the AH for a certain price should be a bannable offense is beyond me. You want to know what the real solution is? Take 2 seconds to actually look at what you're paying for. Then the "scammers" get no business. Problem solved.

It's been more of an issue in the past, because the AH interface was fairly vulnerable to things that abuse bugs in the way human eyes process large grids of data.
Basically, if you had 10 consecutive stacks of "20" of something, and one stack of "2", and they were all the same price, it was very hard to spot the "2" in the middle.
On my system, stacks of 1k actually show up as "1..." or something like that, making it even more confusing.
That said, for the most part, I figure this is adequately addressed by addons, but I do wish Blizzard would fix the default UI to allow sort-by-per-unit.

That would be more convenient than the way it's set up, but Hyper's right. If you don't want to get scammed, rub two brain cells together, if you even have that many. The system doesn't need to be changed just to prevent this.

If they're all the same price, then the 2 would show up either at the end or beginning, not in the middle.

How about the AH 'griefers.' Saw one guy who put up a stack of iceblade arrows, at the normal price. But listed every arrow singly. Seriously, wtf?
That however is something that should buy a punishment, lol.

^ Agree
I also think that all auctions should always have a bid price. At least automatically set a bid price a certain percent below the BuyOut price.

They aren't unscruplous bastards.
What these people are doing is morally equivalent to taking mats to enchant a piece of gear and not doing the promised enchant
No, it is not. It is the moral equivalent of selling fake fur and not mentioning that it is fake fur, hoping that the buyer will pay the price of real fur. All you have to do is not be stupid and get an addon. If you buy into that scam once, congrats you've lost 2 gold. If you fall for it again, you are a dumbass who doesn't deserve my welfare.

It's not even that...
It's selling a lolipop for 10 bucks, instead of a package of 1000...

While I don't necessarily have too much sympathy for those who are grabbed by this, it does technically fit the the definition of a "scam".

That's not an apt metaphor either. It's like pre-authorizing a charge for a lollipop, picking a lollipop out of the bin of a thousand lollipops, and then scanning its bar code to charge your card
before
you note that the lollipop's price tag says that it costs $1000, compared to the $1 price of the other candies.
It's a ploy to play on the inattentive nature of the consumer, and in my experience that's considered, if not a scam, then at the very least incredibly unprofessional business practices.

Despite some disagreements with the article, I had no problems with it until I saw this part:
If you see someone posting single bullets or arrows for the price of a stack, open a ticket. If enough people do this, it will get on Blizzard's radar.
As if there isn't enough junk in the petition queue already? I'm kinda surprised the editors didn't remove that, especially since one of them used to be a Game Master.
I agree that it's a dishonest and deceitful thing to do, but the fact is we're free to place as much items as want to on the Auction House for any price. The people who fall for it just need to pay more attention.

Seriously, If you fall for this it's your fault. The seller can sell 1 arrow for 10000g if he wants. You don't like his price? Don't buy it. I swear people have no common sense these days.
Same thing applies to the single unit for a price of a stack. Pay attention to what you buy and you won't have any problems.
