In the small window where you have both a tank and a healer who is slightly undergeared, but not enough so to take the run slowly, then I agree with you. That's not a lot of heroics though.
plebian: His point is that as the 'slow' healer you get MORE cloth in the same amount of time burning through a heroic without looting and spending the time saved grinding cloth/ playing the AH for money with which to buy the cloth than you do taking a run slowly and picking up the cloth.
Remember, everyone has a certain amount of gold per hour they can make, which equates to a certain amount of frostweave bought per hour. Everyone also has a certain amount of frostweave they can grind per hour. There is also a certain amount of frostweave that can be looted per hour in heroics.
10 minutes of not getting cloth in heroics for ten extra minutes to grind a full stack of cloth is BETTER for everyone involved than 20 minutes spent picking up ten cloth in a single heroic. I think the instances in which the total cloth per hour for a healer is the highest when they don't bother looting anything in heroics are extremely few and far between, but that whole 'hey you should stop being selfish so that I can waste your time doing something inefficient that I could do better and faster on my own time' argument is pretty hypocritical in those situations.

10 minutes of not getting cloth in heroics for ten extra minutes to grind a full stack of cloth is WORSE for everyone involved than 20 minutes spent picking up ten cloth in a single heroic.
How is that worse? Everyone else gets a 10 minute run and you still get the same cloth on your own time.
Oops. This is why proofreading is good. Fixed.
There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of what a dungeon offers, be it cloth, an herb, a mining node, gray items that vendor for several gold, etc. The idea was not on comparing looting /scavenging cloth in a dungeon vs grinding cloth outside of a dungeon. That is a tangent mentioned in an above post. Apples, oranges.
A few extra minutes isn't going to ruin anybody's random dungeon run. Too many think a speed run is all randoms are about. It isn't. So yay for you (you as a plural general) if you can burn through in record time. That's great!, but there's more to the random run than time. How that cannot be understood I really don't know. The objection isn't on quick runs, it's quick runs at the expense of others. It does no harm to slow it down a tad and let looting, prof gathers, etc., happen. Consideration of the group and group dynamics, is not selfish, but it's ok of others think it so.
I don't understand, you want to take longer to get less things? What I'm saying is: If you have 20 minutes to play, do you want to blitz through a heroic in ten minutes, leaving you ten minutes to grind up a full stack of cloth, or do you want to take your time through a heroic, use up your entire 20 minutes, and only have a half a stack at the end?

If you noticed I acknowledged a while back that the amount of runs in which my theoretical example is true is a pretty small number. In those cases, however, I don't think it's very considerate of others to take their time to do something which you could do more efficiently on their own.

Healers can't loot? Tanks can't loot. I never have time to skin anything on my druid because I don't want to waste time and stop pulling. On my holy paladin you barely even NEED me, I'll take as much time to loot as I please. I can always Lay on Hands while I run up if I get too far behind one time.
Skinning is about the only thing I hate when people do when I tank. I will gladly slow down and let people loot, I'm not one of those tanks who wants to steamroll in 30 seconds, but if you want to skin do it on your own time. It is very, very easy to level up and just as easy to collect a ton of leather outside the instance and it slows you down a lot more than just grabbing some loot does.
I believe instance mobs have a higher chance of dropping Arctic Fur tho.
Only barely, almost universally less than a 1% difference with the exception of a few boss mobs who we will all be stopping to check anyway for loot like Precious and Stinky. There may be one or two mobs that differ from that generalization but that's about it.
