Low Level Tanking Help

Hey all.
I just started a Paladin a few days ago. I've situated myself with some heirloom items. I have a few questions about tanking @ lvl 20.
Is it advisable to begin tanking instances at this level?
I'm excited to begin tanking, I'm just wondering when is generally best to begin as a paladin. At this level, I would have consecration, but does it hold aggro well enough to be viable? Would it just turn into a hassle because I'd be unable to hold aggro against groups? I would just like to reduce the hassle of wiping a group and the backlash it incurs.
In my limited time perusing the pally forums I haven't been able to find a low level tanking guide. I can find the gear myself, just wondering how the tanking strategy changes at lower levels.
I don't like beginning things like this uninformed. I'm used to utilizing the Wowhead forums for help, tips, etc. So I figured I'd throw a line in the water and see what I caught.

Go ret for SoComm, definitely. The difference in damage avoidance/reduction between prot and ret is pretty low at low levels, and also pretty unimportant. What you get is a huge amount of damage and a lot of mana returned with the SoComm glyph. Once Holy Shield becomes available, though, definitely switch back. You can pull more mobs at that point as prot, which brings your DPS up, and the survivability starts to matter more and more.
If you're hell bent on going prot, Consecrating once or twice every pull should be fine for threat and not cause too many mana problems. It's just a bit slower than ret.

Thanks all. Hopefully it's smooth sailing.
I'll grab some groups today, see how it goes. If all else fails I can blame the hunter in the group... (My main is a hunter, so I can joke about it. It's like being Jewish and making jokes about it.)

I've had an heirloom 1h sword in my bags. Was just using the 2h for questing.
Spec has been refined to give better multi target threat. (Seal of Command)
Ran a few dungeons, all went successfully, except for Wailing Caverns, we got lost and it was late at night, so we just disbanded. (downloaded a map addon shortly after logging out, no more getting lost)
I can haz aggro now!

I'm playing a 23 blood elf paladin and while I do say that my racial helps, the real mana regeneration comes from two things.
1.
The Glyph
2. Judgement of Wisdom
Spec ret for Seal of Command + glyph. I just cast consecrate
once
if there's two or three mobs. If there's only one mob I only use judgements. Use hand of reckoning wisely and sometimes you might wanna pull with exorcism. From a tanking point of view you don't wanna cast Exorcism when you're being attacked because for all I know you cannot block when you're casting. That's about it. Be sure to carry some water if !@#$ is really getting down and you really need to consecrate a lot. It doesn't happen a lot if you're a proper puller.
All in all, grab the glyph and just try it. Try to play smart. Don't consecrate every single time the cooldown is up.
