Sure would be nice if a mod could let us know that they acknowledge that there is a problem and that they're working on it. I've looked through multiple threads and it seems that they don't know about it.

I am having this same problem. From what I can tell its because when I run the Wowhead client exe it doesn't create the addon folder in my addons directory. Was going to upload a bunch of herbing data but can't seem to get it working.

This looks like it's simple enough to fix on the Dev's end. The MD5 of Wowhead_Looter.lua is wrong in the updates.dat file on the server. Since the .dat is wrong, when the client goes to verify that the file it downloaded is correct, it sees that the hashes do not match up and errors out.
Current updates.dat
37834edf2a06285215443c4ad51c0b3d
Actual MD5 of Wowhead_Looter.lua
bdcc3e64571bba6e50d34c5b47bad35c
I mirrored the directory structure of
http://client.wowhead.com/files/
on a local Apache server, then modified my hosts file to point that URL to my local server instead. After modifying my local copy of updates.dat, sure enough, the program updates fine.

Basically what they need to do is change one simple line in a .dat file on the server?
I don't know much about setting servers up but that doesn't come out as rocket science to me, and really shouldn't take this long to get fixed.
I WANT TO CONTRIBUTE DAMMIT /end caps.

Hopefully an administrator sees this and notifies the devs.
