you have a horrible set up, not going to lie.
you seem to have good logic in your post, but why do you have spirit gems? NEVER!11111
Red = Spell Power
Yellow = Spell Power + Haste or Haste
Blue = Spell Power + Haste
you need Test of Faith. look at stickies for spec ideas. yours is sub optimal.
rule of thumb is never gem or enchant for spirit. Spirit on gear is fine, but don't choose a lot of spirit on one item, sacrificing int, sp, crit, haste etc. it's just sub optimal, always. Stamina is better as it increases your survivability.

you dont compensate the loss of spirit. ignore it. don't even register it on gear. never gem for it ever.

Never ever gem for spirit is very good advice but completely ignoring it is wrong. After all it is the second best optional stat to get on items (right after haste).

id say spell power is better. but that's my 2p. Spirit just doesn't do enough compared to everything else. we also know that there is never enough haste for a priest looking at gem choices for top 3 who down LK25H

There's so many ways of doing things. Shadowfiend, Hymn of Hope and Inner focus should be able to get you through any mana situation. I have the added bonus of being a blood elf (25% extra replenishment) and an alchemist (non-consumable mana pot), and if i pop those two abilities together I instantly restore 20% of my mana bar.
But there are many successful priests who gem spirit, some even take the SP/MP5 head and shoulder enchants. I think the best way to go with your gemming is focus on just one or two gems to maximise the stat you prefer. Like fast heals? Reckless Ametrine. Big heals? Runed Cardinal Ruby. Spammy heals? Purified Dreadstone. Surge of Light? Potent Ametrine. There's many ways of achieving success as a holy priest, but it's up to the player to make it all work.

Of course SP is better. But SP is not an optional stats.
All items come with sta, int and SP. They are fixed, you won't find pieces with extra much SP or anything like that.
The optinal stats then are haste, crit, spirit, mp5 and hit rating.
Spirit is obviously better than mp5 for holy Priests, hit rating is useless and haste is the best optional stat.
Since items come with 2 optional stats that leaves crit and spirit for the last item budget spot. I'd say spirit clearly wins here because the throughput gain from crit is rather small and the sustainability gained by spirit is quite significant.
This has nothing to do with gems of course but you said not even to register spirit on gear and seeing how a holy Priest would want to have haste/spirit as optional stats on his gear I can't quite agree with that statement.
@donny:
If you are healing ICC normal modes you can gem str for all I care. It really doesn't make a difference.
But in hard modes a healer should really try to min/max. There are no personal preferences anymore. It's all about finding the single stat that is best for throughput or the single stat that is best for sustainability. It's math with a clear answer and not personal preference.
By the way your alchemist mana pot shares a cooldown with normal mana pots and gives you less mana. It's a very bad idea to use it if you get serious mana issues in a hard mode encounter.
And no, Shadowfiend and all those nice abilities won't be enough to keep your mana bar up.
There is a nice article on
http://penancepriest.blogspot.com/
, written for disc Priests but it mostly applies to holy Priests as well. If you are not having mana issues then you are not healing enough.

Yes, apart from Zenyu (who isn't quite as geared but is a shining light on an otherwise atrocious server), they all have pretty similar spirit number, I'll give you that. But they all have wildly different numbers in terms of SP, crit, haste and intel, and are all damn successful.

If you look a bit closer at them you'll see that they all go for SP with their hybrid gems.
Tbh it doesn't even matter all that much. Haste and SP are pretty similar in their throughput gain. There is a clear mathematical winner and there is absoltely no point in ever gemming anything else than this calculated best throughput stat if you want more throughput - but that doesn't mean a whole 25man raid will fail just because you have 2 gems with crit instead of haste.
Same with sustainability. There is a clear best gem for sustainability, it can be calculated and giving advice like "gem to your personal preference" is silly since there is a clear right and a clear wrong. But that still doesn't mean that a raid will fail just because one of your gems isn't the very best.
I'd bet you tons of gold that if any of the Priests you linked above would switch out all his gems for STR ones he would still be able to kill the LK. But nobody in his right mind would conclude that STR is the proper way to gem for Priests.
Long story short: There is a best gem for throughput and a best gem for sustainability (for each socket color and bonus ofc). Not gemming one of these two is pointless. But since movement and the way of casting spells totally dominates over 30-40 random stats on the character sheet for a really good player it doesn't matter much if he gems a bit wrong. It most probably won't make or break encounters. Still that's not a reason to gem wrong on purpose.
