you are
clearly
confused
Orly? From the blizzard page:
Rogues are a lightly armored melee class capable of dealing massive damage to their enemies in a flurry of attacks.
They are masters of stealth and assassination, passing by enemies unseen and striking from the shadows, then escaping from combat in the blink of an eye.
This aside, even if combat is the best build for leveling, I don't see what that has to do with a subtlety leveling thread. There are guides for 'suboptimal' levelling specs for many classes. Prot warrior levelling, resto shammy levelling - it doesn't matter. They exist because people who don't want to rush content actually exist, or some people actually want to know how the class progresses and learn it from scratch. If someone has done it and are willing to post their experience/advice, great, we can take it on board.
Assuming that the vast majority of players want to speed to 80, that's cool. They can go read the fast levelling rogue thread. What about the tiny minority of players who don't want to speed to 80? the 100,000 or so of them (which is around 0.1% of 11 million subscribers) may actually want to read this guide.
So, using your vast rogue knowledge, instead of just saying 'go combat', why not adopt a 'combat is faster, BUT if you really want to level subtlety because you lost a bet, this is what I would do to improve the process' approach?

how would a guide help someone in that aspect?
I suppose then that you never read up on a class/fight that you have not played before? After all, the ONLY way to learn is to go kill yourself learning the fight, right? A guide cannot POSSIBLY help you learn how to play something new. At all.
You can critique that 'it is a bad guide' - you cannot say that it is an unneccesary guide. You want to be helpful instead of posting 'arguments'? Then point out why and stay on topic of how to make a better sub levelling spec instead. Be constructive.
Standing on the shoulders of others before you and looking ahead is logical. To ignore what has come before you is folly.

and a guide for people wanting to learn the class "on their own" and "from scratch" defeats the purpose of learning the class "on their own" and from scratch"
My purpose of a guide is to get tips and find out things I haven't thought of before. Hence GUIDE.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Quoting 4chan makes you cool.

Awww, I really wanted to read that guide.
Harper, I'm sorry that this happened.
And shame on the trolls that ruined this thread.
