Shot priority isnt a tough thing to learn.
Just use the most powerful shot that isnt on cooldown. If all of your instant casts are on cooldown, use steady shot.
And keep serpent sting/black arrow up on your target.
No need to waste system memory.

If you goof on the shot priority you're actually losing a lot of up time on shots, because that time adds up.
That's why we have the hardest "rotation" in wow, unlike facerolling paladins who can still play with a 1 button macro.
I'm going to have to argue with this point northern. A MM hunter rotation consists of as many buttons as a ret pally's rotation does, and just like a ret pally rotation, the cooldowns are staggered, so it goes off of a priority instead of a "set rotation"..
Kill shot, serpent sting, chimera shot, arcane shot (provided you're anywhere short of ICC hardmodes just about), aimed shot, steady shot.. 6 shots all with varied cooldowns.
Hammer of Wrath, Judgement, Crusader strike, Divine storm, Consecration, Exorcism. 6 spells all with varied cooldowns.. How exactly can you pull that off with a one button macro again?

it never recommended Chimera Shot - which only happens to be our hardest hitting shot w/ Serpent Sting (not counting Kill Shot). With testing on a dummy, I realized that Chimera Shot was only flashed when Serpent Sting was about to fall off.
I've never actually tried MM, but isn't it better do use Chimera shot at the end of SS's DoT, for maximal damage?
Also, all this stuffabout rotations and priorities, I'd never heard of it before I hit 80 on my hunter (main), and it just confirmed me in everything I'd been doing so far. The choices of which ability you're going to use are just obvious for any class, especially hunter since it's a "shot priority", depending on what situation you're in. It just seems like something that comes naturally. It's just natural to use whatever hits the hardest first, while thinking of what has the longest CD so that you use that first too, so you can use it again earlier...if you've been playing your class and not repeatedly dying, there's probably not much to change in the way you play.

/castsequence reset=nocombat Judgement of wisdom, Divine Storm, Crusader Strike, consecration, Judgement of wisdom, Crusader Strike, Divine Storm, Judgement of wisdom, Consecration, Crusader Strike
that's all fine and good, but it doesn't follow the optimal rotation. it's a priority rotation just like MM hunters have, and (i'll admit i'm not certain) i didn't think macros like that would work because if the first one is on cooldown it stops the whole macro. I never said ret was hard, I was merely pointing out it was no easier than marks.
I was speaking about SV hunters
who need to manage ES, LNL procs, Aimed, SrS, and spam steady without clipping cooldowns.
I will, however, agree with you here. I only just assumed you meant MM because it was never specified, and MM is the "top dps spec".

The ret macro
is
actually less dps, but braindead easy.
I was just saying you can play the class with 1 button. :p
Well, if you want to look at it that way, you could make a SV macro that's 1 button and make it brain dead easy.. Sure you'd lose DPS, but it would be just one button.

Wouldn't work because of the tight cooldowns and LNL procs lol.
Pre-wrath bm hunters and ret paladins are the only ones who can do that, maybe mut rogues.
Exorcism
argues with your retadin macro.
i dunno about the mut rogue rotation much.. rogues are really boring for me to level through northrend.

The retpally hate is equally as well deserved as the death knight hate and the hunter hate. Why? They're some of the easiest classes to level, and recently there seems to be a
massive
influx of people to those classes.
With massive amounts of players the amount of sub-par players is going to be magnified and the amount of players who know wtf they're doing is going to dwindle.. However, when you run across the ones who know what's up, they'll stick out in your head. The hunters who use misdirect properly (and it's sad that one simple ability makes such a huge difference) and know to turn growl off, and when to feign death. Little things like this make the "idiot" classes tend to stick out.
