In Cata they are making BM the main DPS spec (it loks like it anyway).

If you look at the changes, it certainly looks like BM is going to be the new MM

Then they might as well just delete the other two talent trees. IF BM becomes the new raiding spec and remains the best leveling spec there will be no use for MM/SV.
PvP? Although, saying that, I'm probably one of the rare hunters to PvP in BM spec. (Or at least, I've not seen very much).

Yeah i PvP as BM. For some reason Devilsaur + Alliance = Carnage! Ive killed Alliance who are 5 levels higher than me with ease.

Yes in Cata it appears as though BM is getting a significant boost but Blizz is not trying to make BM the "raiding" spec. As Blizz has stated the goal is to get all 3 specs to within about 1% of each other. Currently MM and SV are still significantly higher then BM, so in order to close the gap BM would need a boost.
I am sure of two things with the expansion, there will be changes made within two months of it's release to bring at least one of the two trees in line and some min/max group will find the optimal combination of gear and talent that will on paper provide the best DPS.
To the OP. The gap currently between BM and MM/SV is not as large as it once was and I have been in raids that have had BM do respectable DPS. So basically I'm saying run as BM if you enjoy it.
I have a feeling that BM will become the raiding spec, mainly because of how they're reworking pets. Since each pet family will bring a specific buff or debuff that is similar to current buffs/debuffs players have, hunters in general will be able to swap out their pets to find a buff/debuff that the raid does not have yet. And with BM hunters, since we're able to tame exotic pets, we'll be able to bring more buffs/debuffs to the table.
