The problem is that good players tend to push things to the limit of their ability. They're out there farming yellow mobs one at a time for their quests, and we're chain-pulling orange mobs with the pet while kiting a red one around, or taking a 29 up against a 37 elite and winning (thinly veiled brag!). If you or I tried to auto attack our way to 80, we'd have a boredom-induced aneurysm.
I have a level 21 hunter that I am leveling, I have an ICC 10/25 geared rogue and a pretty well geared DK tank, and I study and read and so on and I so want to learn to be able to do this and make it look easy. I have learned the bleeding edge with my rogue, doing pretty good tanking when my lag doesn't suck and I work hard not to be a huntard. It amazes me when anyone of any class pulls off the super heroic stunts like that. Just dang cool.
BTW, I have a pig, seemed about as good as a bear and not many people have them. He is one mean mofo.

You can turn auto-attack after changing targets off in options, I have no idea why it's enabled by default.

Thanks! I appreciate it, one more step on the road away from Huntard toward Solid Ranged DPS and raid member.

Being that my main is a rogue, I have to say, there is next to no way in hell short of a small edge on haste that two of those daggers will outshine Marrowstrike when gemmed properly. Mutilate rogues must use, not can use, not like to use, MUST use dual daggers and that one is the best one out there short of 10 man raids and until you get to ICC, those from 10 man are simply side grades in most cases. With all the other weapons out there in the world that hunters can use and get maximum effect out of, it comes across as amazingly selfish in this case. What would happen if, for instance, a rogue was in H ToC and needed the long rifle off a hunter getting by with the gun from VH?
Just my rant, the versatility of hunters and the jackasses that I have run into PUGing have colored my feelings on this matter. Doesn't help that I have lost 3 or 4 major upgrade drops in ICC to hunters over the past several weeks.
BTW, need in loot rolls used to mean "Able to use right now as an upgrade short of enchant" not "I hope to make something in the future and this might be useful."

/agree. That is one of the major huntard/!@#$%^&/*!@#$% moves, to take a melee weapon over a melee class when they can use it more. It is exactly like rogue/warrior rolling on a ranged weapon over a hunter.
that dagger is very viable for a Hunter, and most of the best weapons in ICC for hunters are one-hand, so even if he won't use it for long now, he may again when he gets one of the axes from ICC, and those are useless if you don't have a decent weapon to go with it.
Granted yes, it's more of a primary weapon for a Rogue, and better because of the Haste, but it's far from useless for a Hunter... calling him a Huntard I don't think will get any sympathy here.
It IS a primary weapon for a rogue and taking it over him so that you CAN switch to a dual wield set IF you get ANOTHER weapon is just hateful. The question is not "is that an upgrade for the hunter?"; it is, "is it a better upgrade for x?". Hunter melee slots are there to save an item from being sharded: period.
This type of unintended self-centeredness, while humorous in the words of frostheim, is what a real huntard rep is built on. The type of person who runs 3/5 t10 and 1/5 t9 because they are higher up on the BIS list or uses a wolf in pvp or uses
this
while having 400hit all because he
knows
he is "right" and thus maximizing his dps.

I was in ICC10 yesterday, we were at Deathwhisper. We were killing the trash in the room, I ran forward to Explosion Trap and Volley. My pet aggroed the big mob that does the AOE dmg. I dont even know how it happened, I was further away (Pet aggroed before I trapped) than the tank. It was weird..
