Don't they already sell mounts. I mean ding 20 go train go buy a mount...
The gold you use in game cost you real $ in playtime cost to earn....
So whats new.
I earn $40 an hour on weekends, $400 sat / sun, you lose.
I earn over triple (almost quadruple) that.
You aren't impressing anyone by posting your pathetic wage on a WoW forum.
No you don't.
You're pathetic for lying about your income to impress people on a forum.

The card game did this like 3 years ago people this is nothing new.
Next they will be selling specialty items like a disco ball for instance and people will cry about that. nevermind that the card game did that like 2 years ago.
I actually prefer these to the card game a lot more I mean 25 bucks for that mount or do you want to pay 700+ for a spectral tiger :P.
But yeah people are going to cry about Activisions influence when again YOU CAN BUY CARDS THAT DO THIS!
I have never seen anyone QQ over the price of a Spectral Tiger. Of course I might have missed the thread...
I also like to point out that due to the extreme availability of the store items they really aren't that special. When I ride around on my raven lord ground mount I know a lot of people don't have that mount. If you ride around on this mount anyone with a credit card and a small sum of money can buy it.

With the Bobby Kotick note, for those of you unaware: Bobby is the CEO of Activision-Blizzard, and has a penchant for trying to squeeze as much cash as he possibly can from every franchise he can milk - at the same time he won't adopt new franchises unless they are destined for success.

Some interesting reading about the guy truly at the reigns of the giant Activision-Blizzard cash machine.

You want to know why Blizzard suddenly made the cash grab? This probably has a lot to do with it:

This was a hugely successful bonanza for Blizzard. It accomplished three things:
It made Blizzard a ton of cash.
It made Blizzard a ton of cash at the likely end of their second fiscal quarter (assuming their fiscal year runs from November-October like many businesses).
It stress-tested the store servers to ensure that there is not another Blizzcon ticket sales crash fiasco.
All in all, I think they should pat themselves on the backs.

The logic in this thread fails
The day they blocked the demotivational posters site here at work was the day I became a sad, sad panda. :(

My biggest worry was this:
Blizzard have a licence to print money (it made them like $2 million in 4 hours allegedly)...
How have they only just realized this, what the hell was marketing doing all this time? x)

When I logged out after reading this post I must admit that I also was wondering: why exactly IS it that it gives me an uneasy feeling that Blizzard sells mounts and pets these days? Because yes, it does make my skin crawl a little. I'll admit to that. And after contemplating I think I know why.
1. Jealousy. Yes. I admit. I'm jealous. I'm a pet collector. Some of them came too easy, others took blood, sweat and a lot of cursing. Then I spotted the Pandaren monk being announced. I got excited. And then you could buy it....for real money. /sulk. But you know, then suddenly any idiot who can wave a credit card around walked around with one. And other people seeing it, got excited over it....while it's probably, apart from your starting gear, the thing that cost the LEAST effort to obtain.
When people got pvp epics by just standing in the AV cave the community cried murder, because suddenly people walked around in EPICS, while they didn't DO anything for it. It was not fair! And honestly, I think that is the same that makes some people (like me) go a bit like: hm, yeah. funky mount. Really. was waiting in line difficult? Surely, I can't know if somebody bought that TGC pet/mount/thingie via Ebay or was lucky looting or spend real hard cash on it to get it, but either way, it took a little more effort....
2. The slippery slope. Yeah. From a marketing viewpoint: I hope the person who suggested this on the weekly meeting got a big fat bonus, because: congratulations: you made the company a ^&*!LOAD of money. I cannot say anything else then that from business viewpoint it's amazing.
And I am trying to give Blizzard the position they deserve as they have showed in the past that they run their business with concience, but what if they start selling levels via the shop? Recruit a friend is not THAT far away from it...be honest?
If people are willing to shell out for vanity items, why not for thing that actually can help you? And as it has been pointed out several times before: Blizzard IS a company which is here to make money....

You know, Blizzard released the mount just in time for everyone to get their tax returns...
I smell a conspiracy!
