It is fickle to say one sexuality is irrelevant when wow is not a world devoid of sexual references and notions of love and relationships. Valetines day event shows this more then anything, and by the fact your character can /kiss /flirt /blush /sexy says it all.

Again: unless you're arguing that sexuality as a whole is irrelevant (which is patently untrue of WoW), you can't single out any particular orientation.

So considering this has been semi-confirmed now(those two guys were outed at Blizzcon heh), figured I'd give this a little bump back up to see what happens.

Well, in terms of RP, we have just about everything. From non-Aftermath Phillip who has no concern of relationships, to Kali, Silvia, and Dansha who are 'anything that moves' to an extent.

Now this is something I don't know about. What happened?
Er....hm, thought I saw something about...crap; ignore that part, but still enjoy the thread.
Oh well, still this from the General Q&A panel: Q: There haven't been any lesbian/homosexual/transgender lore figures--any chance to change that?
A: It's a possibility. We want to represent everyone. So we'll think about it.

why not make homosexual characters in wow? hmm..let's start with mass effect and dragon age. there are approximately 2million registered me and da players, and among them only around 500 ppl comes to forum, if u check those forums u will see what kind of hell they bring in there, mods spend most of their times removing rage/flame threads rather than looking at important ones. wow has over 10million registered players, so now go figure what will happen. i personally don't want that drama, not to mention all these incidents happening in blizzcon for being horde/alliance, in the next blizzcon it'll be for being normal/homosexual. so no they shudn't add somthin like that in wow, too risky.

So yeah, they may add it in at some point.
That said, there are already a large number of LGBT guilds in the game and players; do you really think Blizzard should ignore that entire group? And actually Blizzard helps; one such guild was being harassed by a large number of idiots, who were reported and they were all banned and suspended for their actions.

As I said in another thread...

I don't think they should add characters of different sexuality just because of a number of people that have that sexual orientation. It needs to be for a purpose (other than that).

I agree there; but they could actually end up with characters who are LGBT heh.

Well, that begs the question, should romance only be used as a plot device?
Because, as a whole, aren't homosexual relationships merely romances between the same gender? Do they need to have a purpose, when regular romances don't?

They could just do what J.K Rowling did. Not say the characters sexual orientation until later when it would have no bearing on plot or otherwise.
"Yeah Velen, he was gay. What? You didn't you notice?"

Dumblydore! :)
@Funden: Not necessarily a plot purpose, but I wouldn't like it to be portrayed by just throwing it in there. Like if a quest had to do with a gay couple, it serves a purpose, if that makes sense.

That's honestly what I'd like to see as well....but as said earlier in this thread, quite a few of the books that I read have openly gay characters so I'm used to that heh.
And suppose I should put the RP characters I have that cross into this territory eh?
Kalistra Sunstorm was straight when she was a High Elf, but after the fall of the Sunwell and her subsequent descent into a Blood Elf, her mind changed a little; she wasn't as picky of partners anymore, preferring both genders. As for the current Kalistra(the dead one) it's not about sex or joy anymore, but only about control and dominating so she doesn't really have a gender preference; male or female, she's royally mess you up.
Tae'sash Firebloom has been bisexual his entire life, and loves both beautiful women and men. All things considered, it's not that important part of him, but something that's there.
Miri Stormshift(Daughter of Tova and Av'ka) is....well, I'm still not sure heh; mentioned something to Gum before that she would be happy raising a load of children, whether they were hers biologically or not, and her partner honestly could have been either gender....but considering she's just one of a whole brood of half elf half trolls, that's to be expected as her parents were open and truthful with them.
