They're going to get started whenever the first tank who wants to do a random with them signs up.
*chuckle*
Unless that first tank happens to be Slaytanic, and it's not the dungeon he wants to run. In that case, you're just SOL. :P

I don't really see a problem, me (tank) and my healing friend allways sell "instant groups" for about 50g. Everyone wins.
If you want it so badly - pay.

I seriously don't understand why DPS want to do this, when my Druid gets mostly insta-queues (Healer/DPS), so when I want to do Dailies, etc, I just don't queue.
My DK is strictly DPS, when he queues he starts do in mining runs around Sholazar, or Dailies, or an AH scan, etc, then accepts when the dungeon procs. Although I suppose not everyone is as efficient as me...
My Server has "Prostitute Tanks" but they actually complete the instance they are paid to random. I would probably blacklist anyone who cheats the system like this...similarly to the way I'm wary of anyone from
Gaydenar
Jaedenar Horde.

In fact, he inconveniences the rest of the group, who were waiting for a tank, even more. They potentially waited for up to -what is it now- twenty minutes for a tank, get a tank & DPS, then the tank bails. The DPS who joined with the tank gets his quicker queue, and the rest of that group go back into waiting - whereas if they'd gotten a free tank that didn't bail, they'd be getting started.
No, let's clear up this point right now. I'm not defending the practice. It doesn't effect me since I don't roll pure DPS classes and then complain about queue times, but I still sort of logically realize it could be annoying. But to say it increases queue times for the people at the front of the line because a tank left is flat out wrong. They're going to get started whenever the first tank who wants to do a random with them signs up. The time at which that first actual tank signs up has absolutely
nothing
to do with whether someone uses this scam to get to the front of the line.
You misinterpreted my post- the inconvenience isn't that they get taken out of the queue and get bumped to the front of the line. The issue is that, after waiting however many minutes for a tank, they get out of the queue to see the tank drop group, and thrown
back
into the front of the queue. Thus, instead of starting when they should have if the tank had been legitimately in queue for heroics, they have to wait in line again.
That
is the inconvenience.

So they're at the front of the line again, waiting for the very next tank. They'll always get the very next tank after the first one drops - that's what getting to the front of the queue
means
. There is no additional time spent waiting, since you're going to get the first serious tank regardless, and whether or not there's a tank who's bringing a DPS up to the front, the first serious tank is going to queue at the same time.

You seem to be making an argument that these other players are not disadvantaged at all, because they're still in the front of the queue.
The fly in your ointment is that, if that first tank had NOT dropped, these four others might already be done with the instance, and have their frosties. Or at least, well on their way to that point. And, they'd be able to go on to other things in the game. Queue-dropping may help ONE person get in a slight bit faster, but it inconveniences at least three others.
Not to mention, the other four, honest-queueing individuals who would have gotten that second tank! So now we're talking about affecting at least eight other individuals, from one act of lazy selfishness. (That is, EVERY time someone does this)

A DPS that pays a Tank to put them in the instance immediately.. pays the tank and the tank drops. Personally I think this is a horrible abuse of a system Blizzard came up with to make gearing and badge farming easier and more profitable.
Don't pay them till the instance is done? Seems simple enough to me.

I do believe people who do this form of LFG exploit -- and yes, it's an exploit -- ought to get something for it.
The problem I see with this proposal? How do you prove it? It would have to be a chronic thing, which Blizzard could measure in some way.
Easy
Blizz checks logs
'Player one joins Player Two group. Player One queues as DPS, Player Two queues as tank. Finds group. Player Two leaves group.
Not any harder than proving a ninja

Presumably the DPS knew the Tank would drop the group once they were in the instance.

No way.
I enjoy randomly queueing as a tank or DPS and then if I don't get the heroic I want, I will just AFK until group disbands or timer hits 0. If the people suck, I will just AFK too. Chances are they are actually slower then the debuff timer.
I shouldn't be punished just because I don't want to do a bad heroic or a heroic with bad people.
You queued for a random.
You AGREED to accept a dungeon, handed to you at random.
You are then being a total jerk to all of these other players, because the RNG didn't give you the dungeon you wanted?
Dude, get over yourself. If you want a specific dungeon, then queue for a specific dungeon. Don't make at least four other people suffer, because you wanna play Dungeon Roulette.AGREED here, this is lame and pretty petty. I changed my mind, players like this one should get a ban. Even though this may be a little off topic. The OP was talking about tanks taking a tip for dungeon queing and running and then leaving, not just being a flat out D bag.
I wasn't going to respond but...
Are you joking?
So you want to run with some failures that will pretty much guarantee a repair bill or two and you may not even finish.
No thx.
I choose random because I want...
a.) bonus badges
b.) easy gold
c.) maybe even bonus loot (oculus).
I am not going to do an Old Kingdom with some priest with 1300 heals wearing hit dps shoulders and a warrior gemming stamina haste in every socket.
You determine this, that quickly? Then again, I guess they're stranded, if you're not tanking, so you can Inspect them at leisure.
GG.

It's not like you have anything better to do right? You are playing a video game afterall.
I'm not paying my $15/mo (plus other expenses) to have someone else waste the time of myself and seven other individuals.
And yes, I *do* have better things to do than standing around, waiting for another Tank to randomly drop in.
Methinks you are downplaying the sheer, inconsiderate rudeness of this exploit.
