Rational and irrational are in the eye of the beholder, are they not?
Nope. You must not know what rational means.
There is no universal law as to what rational behaviour or thought is; it's all based on the personality of the given man/woman. What is rational to you might not be rational to him. So he's completely correct when saying it's in the eyes of the beholder:P
That's not how rational work, sorry.
Rational means me not wearing short and a T-shirt in -20 degree weather. That is not something "in the eye of the beholder."

Well you seem like a fun person to hang out with >.> shouldnt worry too much about work related stuff when youre not even at work. Hell im a network admin/assembly worker for the ford motor co. assembly plant here in ohio, I deal with big wigs all the damn time and sure enough the other day I was wearing my Undercity Gravediggers baseball style shirt. All while talking to 2 ford exec's from the Michigan headquarters, 1 of them actually used to play the game and the other is just a video game fan in general (he used to own a pretty big arcade in michigan) while those arent great examples cause they like the stuff but did I know? Nope cause I really didnt care I do my job good and thats all that matters.
I dunno what youre selling but your little motto is alittle extreme, if you gotta dress to impress 24/7 then you either are a door to door salesmen or youre not very good at selling things and need to look like your A game 24/7. I could be wrong but I dont know any "sales career" that is that extreme unless you travel to big companys selling your companys product, if thats the case then I guess youre right but to criticize people for wearing shirts like that seems like youre a uptight ^&*!@#, and who are you to say what is and whats not fashonable? Suits suck and ill enjoy my awesome job without having to wear one.

never said i wear a suit when im off. Just nice, stylish clothes.
I sell advertising, the easiest way to get a new sale is when in public strike up a convo with someone i see is a buisness owner, i do this all the time, and it works. if i was wearing some shirt with wow stuff on it i would be unable to approach these potential clients because people are judgemental, you know it, and i know it. Especially when it comes to wow. And i seriously, seriously doubt you can pull many women wearing said clothes.

And i seriously, seriously doubt you can pull many women wearing said clothes.Gamer geekettes do exist.
But yeah, who gives a crap what someone else wears; I've gotten good comments on some of the shirts I wear, and I've had people laugh at them, but I just laugh along with them. Life is too short to try to police random people you meet on the street and complain to them that they aren't showing their best side.

yea and they are few and far between.
Alot of people care what someone else wears, specifically when they are potentially going to do buisness with them.
But hey, if you wanna dress like a kid in highschool instead of an adult, more power to ya!

Well yeah, I'm going into a job interview, I'll be wearing one of my standard plain shirts with my red overshirt.... but if I'm relaxing around the house, out with my friends, just having fun, I'm wearing something I want to wear, as I really doubt anyone is going to care that I'm wearing my Marvel Civil War shirt while I'm in the local EB games or Futureshop....

what type of job are you applying for mcdonalds? No, I've worked at Call Centers, Data processing, a Library and a few other places; while at work, I wear simple things that are allowed, but if I'm not at work.... I wear what I like simple as that.

going to an interview dressed like that you wont be able to get much better than that.
suit and tie for interviews, anything else and you dont want it bad enough, or your working somthing close to minimum wage.

Yes, that is correct.... if I was actually applying for something big.
But, again, what does wearing a Warcraft/mythos shirt in my free time, going out to party with friends, or just hanging around the house have to do with anything like that? I'm not a clothes horse, I don't spend big bucks on my clothing as there is no reason to; I have about 3 good shirts, over shirts, and slacks for special occasions, beyond that, you won't catch me in something like that as that's not my style.
It's all about personal preference; after all, the West isn't a communist state where everyone has to wear the same thing day in and day out.

I've worn a suit and tie to several interviews. Every single one of the interviewers mentioned that I was overdressed.
All for programming jobs, for the record, nowhere near minimum wage.
and do you think you would not get a job for being overdressed? cause you can sure not get it for being underdressed.

People think that if they were a World of Warcraft shirt that they are advertising it ? I find this pretty ridiculous cause its just like any other clothing. Wear a Gap shirt are you advertising it ? wear a plane T-Shirt are advertising it ?
Wearing whatever wheather it be a Warcraft shirt , Starcraft, YuGiOh or NBA shirt .. you wear it cause you like it not for what people are gonna view you as.
