Weel a topic should be kept ontopic until atleast the OP have got the answer he wanted. personally when i find out new stuff, or find ways of improving stuff its normaly threads going waaay offtopic after OP have got answer he wanted.
But if there are any other aspects to crit vs haste you'd like to discuss I'd be happy to oblige :) wont get much constructive out of this without discussion, will we? :p

Is haste still useless to a disc priest?

Is haste still useless to a disc priest?
When shield spamming on the raid: Yes.
When tank healing or spot healing a lot: Hell no, it's awesome.
Generally I'd take it. What else would you use instead? Crit is equally useless when raid bubbling as shields can't crit and spirit doesn't do anything as long as you don't run out of mana.

Ideally, as disco, you should have around 20% haste with 40+% crit. This is for Tank healing. For raid bubbling, I still say that haste is quite useful because it DOES drive that GCD down and allow you to bubble faster. In a "perfect world", 20% haste means that within a given time, you're bubbling 20% more people if you're going non-stop. I still like to keep it on my gear because I primarily still tank heal, but I DO find it quite useful when I'm slated the job of raid bubbling.

I have it currently in my own gear without buffs. I think it's quite attainable, especially considering I've been slacking on my main toon for the last several weeks due to impending offspring-age.

Will he be your first? I fondly remember babysitting my 9 month old niece, waking up at 6:00 to give her a bottle and walk her around the house. Turns out, you can get a lot of dailies done that early in the morning! She enjoyed sitting on my lap and watching my character run around, too :)
Your raiding is probably gonna go out the window though.

Yup this will be my first! I'm really quite excited, though sad that I will be sacrificing my raiding hours. My guild already knows of this impending doom, I mean... JOY! Just kidding, of course. I will gladly give up raiding for the pleasure of holding my newborn baby boy.

By the sounds of things, you'll be doing more diapercrafting than theorycrafting ;)

You are supposed to utilize your holy word spells. Not spam a long or mana consuming cast. Crit makes it so Echo of light gets the same double and you use small spells to keep up your holy word spells which do a ton of healing if they get hit by your crit. Echo of light won't be doubled and neither will the rest of your spells when crit procs them if you replace crit with haste. Mastery and crit work together here
