My brother just got 80 on his Paladin, and we're working through heroics now to get his DPS gear built up. That is his only focus until Cataclysm (80 heroics, and gearing into T9/T10 (slowly) DPS and Healing gear).
I came up with this build for him:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#sVZE0zZVfMtMIuhdIfsu:zh0czmIs Divinity better than Anticipation? Receiving better heals (and handing them out in an emergency) seems better than dodging when you're not supposed to be tanking, right?
Other than teaching him when/how to use Divine Sacrifice (which is a new one for me as well), pretty standard fare. Eye for an Eye is in there because any damage done back is good (I'm assuming boss/cleave/spell AoE crits count?) and Vindication is there because I don't know if Stoicism or Guardian's Favor is much better (in reducing damage/time out of play).
Question 1 - those last two talent points (from Vindication, or Eye for an Eye): should he get Imp. Blessing of Might? Should he use it? Tanks seem to want Kings, a lot of casters want Kings over Wisdom, and he has been Kinging himself. Do different tanks want Kings over Might (like DKs over Warriors over Bears?).
Question 2 - the glyphs chosen: I see A LOT of people recommending Consecration. Extends duration AND cooldown by 2 seconds = huh? Is the spell that much damage really? We thought it was more like a DK's DnD, used for tanking/inital aggro grabbing.
Why not (for more damage and possible stuns) a faster cooling down burst AoE like Holy Wrath. Or more damage from Exorcism. And while the next two arent DPS based, healing from Divine Storm or less mana cost on Crusader Strike sound like decent choices (taking a tiny bit of pressure off the healer or his own mana pool).
Same question for Seal of Command glyph. Is the extra mana it generates overkill or just what he needs (especially starting off with pre-heroic gear) to stay full up (I think he has like 6k-8k mana range, depending on buffs).
Is the 10 expertise from Seal of Vengeance worth losing any of his current Glyphs? If one were to cap out expertise and always attack from behind, that could free this glyph slot up (way, way down the road), no?

This thread should give you an idea of why you should go down the holy tree rather than the prot tree, if you're interested in raid utility.
Other than that I highly, highly recommend reading the stickies before doing anything or asking any questions. They're there for a reason.
