A LFD Macro Idea

So...I've been leveling a Prot Warrior from 15 to (currently) 64 almost exclusively through LFD. And I've noticed a lot of Paladins, Arms/Fury Warriors, and Death Knights Need on very nice Tanking upgrades against me then either tell me to chill out or just not respond when I say I needed those for a Tanking Upgrade and link my current piece (example: Lost
Ironsole Clompers
twice to Ret Pallies and once to a Prot DPS Pally while I was wearing
Boots of Avoidance
, one of them dropped group after I asked if he had a Tank Spec).
This got me thinking into making a macro along the lines of:
/p Hello, I'll be your Tank for this instance. Please do not pull additional groups, and please do not taunt off me. Also, I ask that you let me have dibs on Tanking Upgrades. Thank you, and enjoy the dungeon.
That macro contains my three biggest grievances with LFD groups: (1) DPS intentionally pulling b/c apparently waiting for the Healer (who I'm in Vent with) to get mana is moving too slow. (2) DPS taunting mobs off me, causing them to need healing, causing to the Healer ooming faster, leading to (1). (3) DPSers needing on my honestly needed tanking upgrades.
Any thoughts about this macro? I basically just want a polite way of telling people what I don't want them to do, and to ask them to let me win Tanking Gear that I actually need.

(4) Tanks thinking they are soloing the dungeon and don't realize that there are 4 other real people in the group.

Also as an FYI, Ironsole clompers are the best dps boots any plate-wearing class through lvl 65:
Paladin
Warrior
DK
(4) Tanks thinking they are soloing the dungeon and don't realize that there are 4 other real people in the group.
Ofc he realizes there are other people, he mentioned the healer and the many nuisances caused by clueless dps didn't he? ;)
You'll notice his healer is his friend (in vent).
And you wonder why dps get the short end of the stick...

Macros like that will generally cause more harm than good.
For example, what if the DPS class had a similar macro?
"/p Hello I'll be your DPS for this run. To make it go faster, I have gemmed and geared my guy to do a high amount of DPS. Please do enough TPS to match my DPS. Also, to maintain this high level of DPS, don't roll on my gear. TYVM."

Yeah... I can understand some of this...
(1) If they say it's a bigger upgrade for their current set, I may acquiesce.
(2) If they say it's an upgrade for their off spec, or they're "building a tank set," I'm going to ask them to give it to me.
(3) How is being friends with the healer giving the short end of the stick to DPS? If anything, it helps them run the dungeon faster b/c I know how much he can heal me through.
(4) I can live with DPS/Healers who ninja my tanking gear at the Heroic level because it's not like I'm going to out-level the instance. At this level, I'll be in Northrend with Vanilla-level gear in some slots if I let every DPS need for off-set without saying anything.
I guess, I'll just bring it up as it becomes a problem. We've already let a DPS or two die once or twice because they actively pulled while the healer was drinking, and kicked a DK who said "cuz its fun" when I asked him why he was Death Gripping everytime it was up.
I mostly just needed to vent some steam and see if anyone agreed with me...
EDIT: If a DPS or Healer does need on something that is an upgrade for me, and either doesn't justify it well enough (see 1) or just doesn't want me to have it (see 2), I WILL drop group, because there if I go, the healer's going to go, and possibll one or two of the other DPS, and now the ninja has to wait 20+ min for another dungeon.

Okay, my Warrior's name is Masochistic (appropriate, no? :P)...how about something like...
/p Hi, my name is Masochistic, and I like getting hit by things. If things aren't hitting me, more than likely they are hitting you, and you probably don't like that.
I'll just make a separate macro that says "Do you tank?" when they ninja my gear. :P

That's just it, it's not your gear.
Until you win the roll, it is the group's gear.

If you're not the tank, you don't roll on tank gear. If you want to roll on it you should tank the instance yourself.

I'll be honest, I've never seen a group that actually reads /p. Until it's too late -.-
I don't often hold up a group at the start, but every now and then I need a few seconds to get ready. Either I've just swapped specs, I've had some addons clash and need to /reloadui, realised I'm out of reagants and had to zone back out to grab some...whatever.
If ever anything like that happens I can guarantee I'll get this:
Me: gimme a few secs guys, need to
<do thing that takes 30 seconds - come back to find dead/dying group>
Party: haeler?
Me: I did say I was . Can't heal you while I'm oom/not here, funnily enough.
Because of this, the only /p macro I have is:/p Move your chat window closer to your damage meter. You might notice people trying to communicate...but then, we can't expect miracles.
Yeah, I know that is exactly the kind of thing that !@#$es people off, but I only use it when they're being particularly bad/abusive. If they haven't got even the tiny amount of common sense needed to check everyone's ready, I really don't mind if they kick me/leave group :P

yeah guys! when i'm fury DPSing that caster plate is SOOO mine to roll on over the holy pally. its the groups gear, not yours.
What if that fury warrior likes to RP?
He may want the gear for a story involving him, in training to become a paladin. Is his need for the gear less than the holy paladin's?
Simple fact is, until the gear is in your inventory, it's not your gear. It is the groups. The rolling system is just a method for distribution. If you don't like it, use master looter. Distribute the items as you see fit.
Also, your example doesn't quite fit the OP's complaint. He is complaining that a DD is rolling on tanking gear. They could still use the gear to its fullest extent, just not in the role they were performing for that run.
