Will cataclysm kill tanks?

I just read the stat changes for cataclysm, and it seems tanks get the short end of the stick. All tank gear is being reduced in stamina, and armor is going down alot too. Blizzard says that tanks health will be similar to every other class, so this means a mage will have as much health as a tank, which shouldn't be right, I think tanks get the short end of the stick on this one and blizzard really #$%^ed them over.

Not killed thank you very much. Actually, they never said that. They said that the difference of health and armor will be shortened, not explaining how (Except for a small bit on bonus armor, which is hardly significant.). On top of that, even if it was brought down, they would have to compromise in some way by increasing healing or decreasing boss damage, so that PvE content is doable. As a tank, I welcome the idea that the DPS and healers will not be one shot if I lose concentration for a second, and gives Blizzard a chance to make tanking a much more fun experience when we can also handle dynamic mechanics.

Guess what?
The same company that is designing the stats in WoW is also designing the dungeons and raids! Who woulda thunk it?

Hey, they are changing regen. Will this kill Healers?
WILL IT?
I'm about 982.908% sure it will

You completely gloss over the fact that they are getting rid of Defense and installing a non-crit buff for tanks (Defender stance, bear, frost presence and Righteous Fury)..
But, let's not think about that...let's instead make a wild conclusion based on inaccurate interpretation of information...

Only after they waste all their mana on people in fires and have none for the tanks... =p

As usual, people are overreacting. Nothing anyone says can fix it, short of Blizzard saying "We're wrong, community is right" which never happens, because Blizzard has their design concepts at the ready, while we do not. In this instance, Blizzard will always be right when it comes to design choices.
I'll give the fear mongers the benefit of the doubt for a moment. Assuming that the stamina nerf is as big as they imagine here, which I find hilarious because NO NUMBERS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED. "More in-line with other classes"
does not equal
mage has the same health as the tank. If this was true, Ghostcrawler would have said "Tanks will now have roughly have the same amount of health as cloth." Did you see that blue post? I sure as hell didn't. Stop the pre-empetive QQ and open your minds to what Ghostcrawler is actually saying, not what you are assuming he means.
Everyone exaggerates how bad things will be before release. The idea is to make health pools larger, make heals smaller to make mana management more important in order to stop the BURST-LUL-BURST healing where the tank titters between 100% and near death because of one or two large heals and huge boss hits.
Reality Check: The difference between a mage's health pool and a tank's health pool is roughtly 25k, assuming a raid buffed mage is 25k and the tank is 50k. There are druids out there who are pushing 60k+ health,
making them almost on par with a freaking elite mob
. This difference is about 100%, double the mage's health.
They don't want to see such a drastic difference between the two, so if a tank's health pool ends up being around 80k raid buffed in Cataclysm, then the mage might be around 50 to 55k. The difference here becomes 31.25% to 37.5%, much closer then the 100% shown earlier.
Blizzard is aware of the tank shortage and is working to devise ways to make tanking more fun. If you must be concerned, let me be about what Blizzard wants to do to make it more fun.

I'm so confused why everyone saying cataclysm will kill tanks and healers and whatnot. Unless I missed something, nothing ever said that tanks will have just as much health as other armor classes. Tanks will still have more threat-gen, avoidence, and probably stamina through talents. Not to mention mitigation will probably be gained through talents like armor pen. And bear tanks being superior? Where is all this coming from?
I feel like everyone is making wayyy too many assumptions wayyy too fast. I'm sure blizzard will make it so things work out.
Or am I just being trolled...?
