Just wanted to confirm that any items that have an apostrophe in the name are being returned as Not Found.

Ok, registered just because of this thread, I really want this to work on my forum but so far: no luck. I downloaded the zip in your first post and followed every step and everything went real smooth. But then what? Have I missed something? I can't use any of the -links you've written about, the posts just turn blank and the wowhead-script only works for the links, but not the colors (purple for epic item) which is what I've really wanted (don't even know if it's supposed to happen). Do I have to create any BBcodes of my own to make this work or... fill me in here, I'm kinda new :(
I'm using PHP5, MySQL5 and PHPBB3.

Yeah I'm having the same problem. It worked fine last version, but this version when i type name of the item it just shows up blank.
Also using PHP5, MySQL5 and PHPBB3

Version 2.5.4 Released
This really isn't a special release, but with all of the reported I have been getting about the script not working, I suspect that it has to do with the new template system. Therefore, I have removed that portion and went back to the way it was previously (by using config variables inside of wowhead.php). My theory as to why it didn't work is due to the possibility that the method by which Ioaded them may cause problems on different OS's (my host runs CentOS, aka Linux), but I haven't proven it.
Anyhow, I have also fixed the issues with apostrophes in item names, heh I forgot to add the entity_decode back after writing the unicode fix.
As for the unicode fix introduced in 2.5.3, it works well. However, certain characters don't seem to get parsed correctly by Wowhead. For example Gürtel der Zauberwucht will correctly parse, but Angriffspläne des Sonnenzorns does not. So I am not exactly sure what's going on, as I am not familiar with the German language. I'll try to look into it. If anyone who speaks German and has a bit of scripting experience can point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
However, if you are using the English version, then you have nothing to worry about.
Hopefully this will fix most of the problems. If not, then please let me know. /crossfingers
By the way, on a side note, I have added a donate button (through PayPal) on the bottom on the script's site to help offset some of the costs of developing this script. It is most certainly not required, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

It works like a dream for me! Thanks a lot! Will maybe send a dollar or two through PayPal later :)

Works great - thank you!
Sent you a donation since you've put loads of effort into this - if others do the same, it should all add up.

a question
whit the new version. do we have to modificate the file includes/functions_content.php (if not, do we have to upload the original one? ) ? or only the viewtopic.php?
and
if we must create a new table will we have to delete something? or do we have to upload the new version and create it ?
Thanks ^^
If you do not wish to edit viewtopic.php and functions_content.php is already modified (and working) then you really don't have to do anything else. Editing viewtopic.php was just an improvement I found while going through the source code, it is standard in the installation of the script now...but functions_content.php will continue to work.
As far as the database table goes, you don't have to delete anything. When you run create_table.php it will check to see if the database already exists. If so, then it will delete it and create the new one for you. The only thing you will lose is the data inside of the database when you run the script.
Works great now, tnx crack :)
It seems anyway I can't get quotes escaping to work on my remote server (like in Hunter's Mark); it works locally on my Mac though. Am I missing something?
I honestly have no clue why it would work locally and not remotely. You can try removing the @ before html_entity_decode() and it will stop suppressing any errors (or warnings) that are being generated. It may give us an idea of what's going on. Let me know what you find out.
I'm glad to hear that the script is now running properly for just about anyone. I am still working on the encoding issues, hopefully I can roll out a fix real soon.
EDIT
I did some research, and it seems that when you do no sort of encoding to certain characters it works, but when you do encode them they won't parse correctly. So confusing. WTB help from a Wowhead dev, PST.

Still getting a generic
No php warning... is there a way to debug and check what the script is outputting as variable?
EDIT: ok, my bad; quotes escaping ISN'T working locally either; somehow spell ids were still in wow_cache table (maybe I called the spellid AFTER wiping it).
I'll try a brand new phpbb3 installation locally to check if I screwed something up from one script version to another ;) (is first post updated? I don't seem to have functions_content.php to be modified anymore? can't remember if I had to add include_once($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_content.' . $phpEx); in viewtopic.php because of this script or some other mod :/ )
Anyone else?
EDIT2: ok, just made a brand new phpBB3 installation and applied
these mods
; quotes escaping not working confirmed; I hope it helps ;)
After doing a bit of research it seems that the issue doesn't lie in escaping the apostrophes, because if you trying to link Fiery Warhorse's Reins, I'm sure it would work. It turns out that the issue is the regular expression I use to find the requested object when using Wowhead's search function. I am in the process of fixing it and will release it when its ready.
UPDATE
It turns out it had to do with the apostrophes were causing the regular expression to stop at that point, the issue has been fixed and I will release it along with some other bug fixes later tonight.

What about the problem with the tag ?
or... i am the only one with this problem? :(
Thanks a lot.
I can't figure out a problem, especially one that so few people have, unless I am given more information about what is going on. Perhaps you could link me to your site so I can see what's up.

My forum site is
this
I dont's undestand this mistake because, everything works ok unless this tag.
Thanks craCkpot.
Well, I looked at your site and the script is functioning properly. If you view the source of the page you posted, you'll see the following:
<div class="iconmedium" style="background: url(
http://static.wowhead.com/images/icons/medium/inv_gauntlets_17.jpg
) no-repeat scroll 4px 4px;"><div class="tile"><a href="
http://es.wowhead.com/?item=29080"
target="_blank" /></a></div></div>
That is the code that my script adds in order to display the icon. So it should be displaying properly. You can try to clear phpBB's cache by going to your admin control panel and clicking "Purge Cache". Other than that, I'm not exactly sure what's going on. It may have something to do with the theme you're using, try switching to the default (make sure you edit overall_header.html).
EDIT
I have found the issue. You have no uploaded wowhead.css into the correct directory. Your forum is expecting it to be located @
http://www.principesdelaverno.net/foro/styles/WoWMoonclaw/theme/wowhead.css
, but when you click to view it it gives 404 error (meaning its not there). Make sure that wowhead.css is uploaded into the theme folder of the style you're using, in this case WoWMoonclaw. The reason the items are working properly is because you're using Wowhead's default style for them.
Hope this helps.

Joomla would be a nice next step for easy itemstats :)
Currently there's a horrible plugin called PUStats which doesn't have nearly as much functionality, nore does it work with the entire site (just articles).

first off, great work on this! I installed 2.5.3 and it didn't work and I was sad, but then like one hour after I first installed it 2.5.4 came out and lo! perfect.
But! One question, and I'm sorry if this has been answered, I can't find a search function?
EDIT: figured it out lol.
My forum has a pale background color which means that common quality items, with a white font are virtually invisible. I'd like to make them black!
What I've done is edit wowhead.css to read
/* Common (White) (now black) */
.quality1, .quality1 a:link, .quality1 a:active, .quality1 a:visited, .quality1 a:hover {
color: #000000;
text-decoration: none;
}
but it flashes black and goes back to white. It seems like a wowhead.com stylesheet is forcing it white with the class .q1. I tried adding to wowhead.css
.q1 {
color: #000000 !important;
text-decorate: none;
}
but, as far as I can tell, wowhead.com is still winning. Any ideas? Forum is here if it helps :)

Edit: from
http://www.wowhead.com/widgets/power/power.css
.q1,.q1 a{color:#fff!important;} is what I blame!
Edit2 : Ok, nevermind I found the setting in wowhead.php I was confused but I added var $qualities = array('1'); and that seemed to do the trick for me :) yay
