I'm confused. They have the buff that's a
cross
. But I'm hearing stuff about the "Light". And Troll priests seem to have their own religion. Also there is this talk from shamans and Druids about Elemental gods and the Earthmother

...That's a cross, to you? Looks pretty much like a diamond, to me. =/
This
does not look like
This
. I don't know where you're getting that from.
And no, Priest does not have any 'religion'. I'm very sure Blizzard doesn't want to have those insanely-religious people QQing at them because X religion is in their game, and getting into peoples' minds.
Also, what do you mean "Troll" religion?
Shamans and Druids, and whatever they do, I'm pretty sure it has no connection to real-life religion.

No religion?
Actually blizz has quite a few references to religion inside their warcraft games the BIGGEST being The Light (The central religion of the humans).
Shaman and Druids also have quite a lot in common with real life "religions", just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist.
Edit: Priests do have cross-like imagery in their spells (
PoM
,
PoH
) However it is more to appeal to the common mentality of the average player (of D&D through WoW) of what "holy" is (aka American).

Ankhs, not crosses.
According to WoW anyways.

Not a cross, and...not a cross. I see a couple of hands pressed together for PoM, and for PoH, it looks more like a + than a cross. Don't know why every + symbol is seen as a cross. =/
As for the
Ankh
, I'm pretty sure it's the Egyptian symbol for Life, which is why it's used for Reincarnation. And seeing as the Ankh's icon in WoW doesn't really look like an Ankh, that could explain the "cross"-looking things in Priest spells...they could be Ankhs?

Symbology is deep, That is not an Ankh as we know it in RL. Again, its symbolism: You see the hands and ignore the symbol behind it.
I'm not going to debate this, things were put in place to appeal to a large majority or to say certain things. The fact is this D&D (which wow can be said to be a second cousin of) uses religion symbology based in a mythos to tell a story that relates to the player.
Edit: I'm not saying they are exactly similar, I'm saying they are based in what we know with a twist that they create. As how the OP drew his conclusions it shows where the average players' mind goes.
Edit2: Personally I say the "cross" is a celtic cross that I've seen around, can't find any links.
Edit3: Now I'm actually interested in finding out exactly what these cross like ankhs are meant to represent in WoW lore. I may post something within the week but not in this thread (the appropriate Lore forums would fit).

Its a world of fantasy, with religious junk already in it.
Im pagan personally.
Who isn't these days?
Edit: Imo this should be moved to the Lore forums because of how offtopically awesome it became.

while paganism, for example, has a more nietzschean approach - at least those with brains that aren't going for the white witch/black magic crud - ie you can be both simultaneously, because there isn't necessarily a dichotomy.
There is so much wrong with this it hurts.
13 year olds who think they are wiccan are neither wiccan nor representative of "paganism"
Its an umbrella term for non-abrahimic faiths, so all athiests, hindus, sikhs, reconstructionists of all European and African polytheisms, and everyone else who isnt Jewish, Christian, Muslim or Bah'ai is a pagan.
Saying there is no good/bad dichotomy is a fallacy, because in several pagan faiths, there are.
Also, very few "pagans" believe in magic, and even fewer of those believe in black/white magic, it is a philosophy espoused primarily by those with no understanding of the beliefs, and a certain publishing company that produces books aimed at emo teenagers that are quite prepared to lie through their teeth about "wicca".

Not to start a religious debate, but you are thinking of the word Heathen not Pagan. (Correction: You were talking about both)
Asatru are not pagan and never will be.

No I mean pagan.
Heathen is an even more generic term and means "Not a follower of MY Religion", whatever my religion may be.
The reason a lot of polytheistic religions like Asatru dont like the term is the insinuation of godlessness it has. All the Asatruar, Vanatruar and Forn Sidr(..ists?) I know are quite happy with the term.

See my edit. I don't like the term and prefer Heathen be
cause
of the implications.

excommunication seems to actually do something
Plus pre-Sunwell belf pallies wresting power directly from the Light, which is something that the christian god would smack down in a hurry.
1) ...back in the day, excommunication meant loss of protection, loss of protection meant invasion, invasion was a death sentence.
2)"it is revealed that M'uru's imprisonment was foretold by Velen. M'uru willingly accepted his role in the events that unfolded, knowing that it would lead to the elves' redemption. "
Self-sacrifice for the redemption of an entire race...what? Forgive them for they know not what they do? Man you pay attention.

The Light is Christian? I always though Blizz was repackaging the Force, there... It's just an Eastern metaphysic with Western ethics and trappings. Silly, but just a game plot point.
Lore. Its a bit different when an entire game universe is created through books, comics, and multiple games. It is a lot more than "just a game" now.
