If you are healthy
or feel comfortable with yourself
, you shouldn't feel like you have to go to the gym.
Even then, you should feel like you should go to the gym.

Because everybody knows the gym is the only possible way to stay in shape.. *roll eyes*
Indeed.
Building a bat-cave is definately a better way to 'get in shape'.

No, if you feel comfortable in your own skin and you are happy the way you are, there is no main motivation to get fitter or build more muscle. Similarly, if you are physically healthy you shouldn't feel the need to go to the gym.
Mediator, you speak as though going to the gym is something required, such as sleeping or eating - Which should be often no matter your size or confidence. However, it isn't needed by our bodies unless you fit certain criteria.

If me mocking you is what makes me stupid, then by all means, classify me as mentally challenged.
Its not. Its that you don't know even know what is going on in the thread and you're trying to make fun of it. I don't think I said anywhere "Haha, puny weaklings, I am physically stronger than you and could bend you over and make you my ***** if I wanted to." Somehow that's what you thought though, because you have an inferiority complex.

You shouldn't feel comfortable though, that's my whole point. At the end of the day, you aren't bat man, but if you really want to be "bat man", you should see your own failure, and strive to improve yourself.

Okay, I'm going to ask it then. Let's assume I'm overweight. Now let's assume that I am not prone to heart attacks or anything else that would significantly alter my life span. Now let's say I am perfectly happy with my social life and spiritual life. So there is no health or mental benefit in being fit for me.
Now why shouldn't I feel comfortable? In a lot of cultures, fat represents happiness. I enjoy my food and wouldn't want to do something I do not enjoy. To me, your telling my I shouldn't be happy just for the sake of not being happy. Tell me why I shouldn't be comfortable. Is it because I am different from your perceived norm? You're telling us we shouldn't, not why we shouldn't.

No one here wants to be 'Batman' that's not actually possible lol; I mean, he learned a dozen different martial styles over the course of 25+ years, as well as undergoing 'soul death' at least 4 times.
Me, I'm good with the way I am, I don't need to be a steroid king, or a ripped god with a full case for gut... I'm happy the way I am, the girls I've known are happy with me the way I am, and
if you don't like it, bite my shiny metal ass and get a life

Exactly, one of my favorite proverbs is a Hindu one, that goes, "There are a thousand paths up the mountain, and the only one that does not reach the top is the one that circles the mountain telling everyone else his or her path is wrong."

Who said they wanted to actually, seriously and in reality become batman though? Nobody. If you are perfectly healthy and feel content with your physical appearance/endurance - There is no need to go to the gym. If you overdo going to the gym, it can easily turn into an obsession. Obsession is bad, m'kay?
I agree with this.

I think themediator is trying to say that you should always try and be in the best possible shape you can be in. It doesn't matter if your a skinny person or a fat person, you should be going to the gym and trying to improve your physical shape.
...And my question is, why?

So first of all I agree with every one else here. If you are happy with what you look like don’t waste 2 hours of your day at the gym spend it with the people you love. And just because some one has good self esteem doesn’t mean they think they can take on any one in the world.
Now at TheMediator muscle mass =/= speed. And in fighting speed = power
When I was training for my job we never once went to the gym, we would hit the bags for spar with each other. Like adamsm said you need endurance, and they best way to get that is running and sparing. Most fighter don’t go to the gym they do push ups and sit ups before and after their fight workouts.
Most mixed marshal arts fighters don’t have a lot of mass and the muscles they do have was formed fighting not curling dumbbells.
Aye, QFT for all of that.
