those that dont deserve it
They pay the same $15 as you. Get your head out of your own arse.
And they rolled the same dice.
Also, paying $15 doesn't mean you deserve anything to begin with, other than access to the game.

Rolling for the purpose of selling it is a greed roll. Hell, the greed roll symbol is even a pile of money.
It's not rocket surgery
.

"Access to the game" = "Access to the Battered Hilt". Taking multiple Battered Hilts, especially under the delusion that you "deserve" it more than someone else, skews that access away. They had access to it. They rolled, they lost. No one was infringed.
And I
definitely
deserve things more than most of the terribles that play.

Except they rolled at a 20% probability when, after the first hilt, they should have been rolling at 25, 33, 50, then 100% probability, since the others should have greeded if their intent was to convert the item into gold.
Really. This should not be difficult to understand.
P.S.: No, you do not. There is no reason they should assume that. It's a BoE, and it's worth a lot of gold. As such, it's a valid roll for everyone in the group. If the other people in your group
want
to pass, they can, but by no means are they obligated to do so.
And yes, I do. Fortunately, your opinion is irrelevant on that matter.

I would like you know your reasoning, by the way. My reasoning is this: If the thing dies,
anyone present at the time of its death
is entitled to the loot it drops. In the case of a piece of loot for which a roll box appears, you press "Need" if you will use the item, and "Greed" if you will convert the item into a more useful form -- i.e., gold, or a shard. If by clicking Need I can substantially increase the usefulness of my character, I will press Need.
As for where, exactly, that line is -- that's a personal decision. Somewhere in the 4 digits is easily enough for me.
I wouldn't need on because I'm not completely devoid of empathy and I'm ok with some random terrible getting an upgrade over my 7 gold.
I'm not, however, ok with some random terrible getting an upgrade over my 5,000 gold.

It seems that
your
opinion is the irrelevant one. There is no such line other than one conjured up by your own need to justify your selfishness. What you are displaying is "Greed". That is why the "Greed" roll exists.
Here endeth the lesson.Except that it's not irrelevant, because my opinion makes my mouse click the need button, enforcing my worldview upon your loot.
Sorry chief, you lose.

This topic has really taken a turn for the worse since I last checked it. Yes I deserved it more, on the first run I was at 60% of the damage, being a 5400 gearscore and getting paired up with 3200's who can't pull their own weight makes me deserve it more. Obviously blizzard agrees as the dice rolls spoke for themselves. Everyone was going to roll need regardless of whether or not they really needed it. It's common knowledge that the hilt is big money, and no one is going to pass it even if they've gotten it. Anyone who would is stupid, especially against people from other realms. These people weren't on my server and as such I don't give two @#$%s if I took a potential upgrade from them.
So, just because you have a guild that runs you through things, you should be able to take the hilt from a pug..... think about that for a second. It's a dungeon drop, everyone is free to hit need/greed whatever, as it will be an upgrade for everyone. You want to play the elitist game; run the dungeon with your guild... and 30 bucks they'll still roll you for the hilt.

Uh... what? I think you should re-read the thread, because your post makes zero sense.
