With all of the changes that has happened, and the new changes with 3.3, it time to ask for opinions on....
for new hunter, which pet should they avoid?

Right, each pet has its own unique ability which is good for certain things.
I recommend though staying away from flying pets for awhile as they can cause you to lose your target (flapping wings get in your way when looking, and if you click targets it can cause problems).

"Avoiding" pets brings me thoughts if 2.x days and "caster" pets that you definitely wanted to avoid. Ahhhhh, good times. Now? Choose something that does damage. Croc, bear, devilsaur, wolf, cat, all fine. Everything else has an ability that can help in certain situations.
Only avoid things that sit on top of your loot and prevent you from skinning.

Plainstrider
Rhino -- BC
Sporebat -- BC
So, basically one pet for
new
hunters to avoid, and two not recommended for later levels.
Thats good to know. Other games I've played, some pets have AI issues or are underpowered. Apparently this isn't an issue in WoW?

I would go to the effort of abusing the hunter till he quit if they had those pets outside RP/show reasons as they are pure phail sauce.
Wow. Yes, those people do need to learn but going to "the effort of abusing the hunter till he quit" isn't the way to do it. That statement just came off as complete arrogance and elitism.
