Hi,
I started to play again on my
warrior
and specced myself protection (I'm lvl 65 now).
I've been skimming the
warrior
forum too see how to actually play the
protection warrior
for
leveling
, but I find no satisfying answer.
In the
sticky
and other
protection related posts
I only find things concerning the
talent tree
and
weapons
.
So I would like to know if there is
anyone
who can actually
explain
me how to
play the protection warrior.
What
skills
to use
first
,
rotation
,
etc
... during
leveling
.
That would be
very
helpful!

Prot warriors cant have fixed rotation. More like prio list. But in leveling its no so important.
Single target:
Charge, shield slam macroed with shield block and any sbv trinkets you may have, revenge if its up, devastate if its not, keep devastating untill revenge or shield slam procs, hit shield slam first, revenge after. Any additional rage amounts (50+) should be heroic striked while doing GCD abilities (as HS doesnt use GCD)
Multi target:
Charge, Thunder Clap, Shockwave, Berserker rage while they are stunned, Shield slam macroed with shield block and sbv trinkets, proceed to cleave spam, while hitting revenges, and shield slams on procs. Keep thunder clap and shockwave on cd.
Use def stance.

Zakkhar is right about this. I'm curious, is there a particular reason why you have shield block macroed to shield slam?
(I have Revenge macroed to also turn on HS, as I have the glyph of revenge)
Shield block doubles block value and thus boosts the damage of shield slam significantly. It also buffs damage shield.

2/5 shield spec in a spec set up specifically for heroics.... That's just stupid. Oh, and he muddles diminishing returns into the avoidance talents, which specifically do not affect diminishing returns.

Also i have found myself not using it at all (any any other cooldowns)...
I have found that macroing and therefore using it every cooldown may result in some uptime being wasted but certainly higher gains than not using it at all.
Glyph of revenge is most useless glyph ever. It may be ok for leveling, but i dont find it particularly interesting. 9 rage every 5 seconds provided that you revenge every cd (which you dont even on boss fights, not to mention leveling). Thats just rubbish. I never rage starved when leveling so there was no point in using rage glyph.
Actually HS glyph is way better rage gained (in boss fights that is).
Before you start arguing. Tooltip is not exactly true. Well it is, but its a manipulation. Like in politics.
HS (and Cleave) work on next swing, making a white hit (giving rage) and yellow hit (yellow hits dont give rage), therefore to calculate true cost of HS you have to add the initial cost (9-15 rage, depending on talents) and the white swing lost potential of rage gain.
Glyph of revenge doesnt make your HS free. Just cheaper (by a half or sth like that).
My favourite glyphs are Blocking Cleaving and Devastate. Pick two, blocking is an absolute must.
