The question is in a world of raiding where about 97% of boss damage on tank is melee, how is losing 1.44% avoidance a good trade for 3% spell dodge?
*shrug*
trash? 15% speed and 3% spell dodge is godly for 1.44% physical avoidance if you have caster trash in packs imo
After seeing Tom's Pally and the top Pally on my server, kinda seeing a pattern I took it and now I wonder how I ever lived without it!
Tom?
you mean the tom in wowhead forums?

Nerfing your ability to tank boss encounters (and yes pallies can be used on bosses or at least there adds, Fathomlord, Tidewalker, Leo, Kael, Alar, Shade of Akama etc) to gain a barely noticeable advantage to spell avoidance on the few caster trash in game as well as a run speed increase when it is really a non issue in a raid is kind of /meh
the advantage on bosses if you take anticipation is about as noticeable as the advantage of PoJ on trash
and trash pulls are 90%+ of most raids, and some of the bosses tend to be easier than the trash pulls lol
but like I've said, and tomas has stated, mostly personal preference, and I agree with him that your tanks are narrowminded

I'm always amused by how some pallys have such little interest in spell avoidance.
Or to put it another way, would you wince at a pally who showed up to tank whose uncrushablity was with 15% dodge/15%parry/ and the rest block? Wouldn't you be looking for a tank with more pure avoidance over a little more mitigation?
Yet when talking spell damage, Spell Ward(mitigation) is considered a prot pally staple talent but many "frown" upon taking PoJ for spell avoidance.
The question is in a world of raiding where about 97% of boss damage on tank is melee, how is losing 1.44% avoidance a good trade for 3% spell dodge?
Is it really 97% physical or is this just an anecdotal number?
