I love change, and think your ideas are creative. But I also think our problems are one of scaling, not of fundamental design. Simpler changes are often more effective:
* Reduce Penance cooldown by 1 second
* Reduce Penance's scaling slightly
* Increase the healing bonus of
Grace
to 5%

The "flash heal refreshing Renew" thing sounds a lil' OP, imo, but the Grace one sounds great.

I like your change to imp flash heal.
Divine aegis change i dnt rly understand because it is preety easy to keep up DA on a target when raidbuffed. (i roll with 34% holy crit ub)
Imp Healing change is wap too OP, id say change it to: Your Flash Heals have a 25/50% chance to decrease the cast time of your next Gheal spell by 0.5secs.
Oh and a much better change to Grace would be just to allow us to apply it to more than 1 tank bcoz atm it is rly annoying that when u go to spot heal raid a little tou have to rebuild grace on your target, also incredibally annoying when you are trying to heal 2 tanks)

I dont like the change to Divine aegis. Not that it is overpowered, but rather because it DOES get us to not value crits as much. When I was leveling up my priest and was looking at the two tree's I noticed immediately that disc tree CARED about crit chance, while at the time holy did not so much (SoL and Holy concentration are more of mana conservation talents than thoughput talents)
Divine aegis is a beautiful talent as it is because it further shows how much disc cares about MITIGATION. not direct healing:
"oh look I try to shield you but it pops, I will heal you with a IF-> GH and put ANOTHER SHIELD ON!"
Personally I dont want to touch the "improved healing" idea, everyone else is doing well on that, let me just say that I am personally against class homogenization in ANY setting. (I was actually kinda miffed when i realized every healer class had a FH equivalent)
The flash heal talent....great idea to get renew refreshed, flavorwise i dont see how it works though. Granted flavorwise the only solution is to have penance(or maybe dispell) refresh renew....but understandably that aint gonna happen. Yes I agree that taking out the "crit chance if under 50%" is actually a good move if you want disc healers to put GH back on their toolbars, but as mentioned above, I dont mind the focus that disc has on crit. the idea that this talent would no longer help Divine aegis (in the old form) is sad to say the least and tears apart what disc means to me.
concerning the grace change, two words: LOVE IT!
the current loophole if you are not aware of it is actually binding heal, if you wanted to spot heal without moving grace around. however, I do not feel like you need to change it so that it can be on multiple people at once. I like the idea of saying to the tank " hey you have my grace, you are important to me"...
on the otherhand when not in pure tank healing mode a.k.a. heroics or trash in raids, i find myself healing the tank with shields, PoM's, FH, renew, and then using penance for that dps that happened to take a bad blow.....which would make this change completely backwards of what it is intended.
in truth the only way to make it so that grace stays tank only is to either have spells in our head as tank only, which greater heal does fit the bill, or to make it its own spell. Again flavorwise I lean towards it proccing, because otherwise it would just be a kiddie version of
guardian angel.
In closing: I know that you have disagreements with our throughput, that when the tank is taking heaving consistant damage we seem to not be able to hold up to it. The divine aegis idea would solve that pretty directly and within disc means....but why not just get some more crit chance and have it happen on its own? The improved healing for extra haste isnt a bad move, but it needs something to give it its own identity. The improved flash heal would fundamentally change how disc uses FH, for worse with DA, but for better with renew, so begs the question is renew a holy tree spell or a disc tree spell? and grace is tricky, and honestly right now probably separates the great disc tank healer from the average ones when it comes to if they can dance with just the right spells when they go off target (meaning honestly, if you want to spot heal the raid while tank healing as disc, why not just push some shields? anyone?)

Horri ideas. You changing something that doesnt need to be changed. Blizzard have said that scaling is bad. That said, it's not our scaling thats the problem, it's the scaling of tanks mitigation. Tanks avoid so muh damage these days that the bosses HAVE to hit hard. TotC is a prime example of scaling gone bad. tanks getting 2 shotted is never fun for anyone.
ICC will change this and bring discipline priests back up to being one of the best tank healers in game since tanks WILL be getting more often however, they won't be 2 shotted in a heartbeat since the damage will be steady. We will once again be able to create a very nice pace in which the damage is incoming on tanks.
Your ideas just complicate matters. You focus way too much on greater heal when we don't need it at all. All the discipline tree need is logic.
Key *Tweaks*
Change penance back to an 8 second CD, 6 second by talents.
Change glyph of penance to increase critial strike chance by 5%. It should be out go to spell and it should hit hardest.
Add a glyph of warding. Each tick of penance reduces the CD of weakened soul on the target by 1 second. Power Word: Shield is out main mitigation on demand ability, the ability to use it more often is needed. this would become a very interesting mechanic and add that 3rd glyph we have been looking for.
Remove the grace to one person limit. make it apply to our heals only. Maybe increase it to 5%
@harmacy: yeah, that grace idea you're thinking about I built into DA and I'm the guy that posted the flash renew idea a few months back.

thank you karls, I love how you take a bigger picture look at it.
because I was so addled by the thread to say "my mind was digesting and here is what I came up with: have your DA talent proc by crit chance and last 30 sec, not 10min. keeping my love of crit needs, and your 'all heals make bubbles plan'"
now I am pretty certain that we dont need more thoughput....
Now about glyph of warding.... I like how only removing 3 sec of weakend soul feels, its not too much, not too little, but i dont like how the name works with penance on a flavor level.
A fresh idea could be "glyph of weakend soul: if your target has weakend soul, you can still cast PW:S on it as long as you dont have weakend soul" not exactly reducing the time of weakend soul, but providing a quicker shield on the target. flavorwise it says "instead of your soul protecting you, my soul protects you" which would be great
P.S. still would love an opinion on wether renew is mostly disc or mostly holy, or if it is just a consolation prize against druids.
