As a refresher course on why mitigation is different from healing:
When we place a PW:S on somebody,
it hangs around
for 30 sec or until it gets eaten up
when we crit (often topping off) with a healing spell we place a DA that
waits
for 12 sec or until eaten up...or refreshed by a new application
PoM/shield of earth are comparable in that they wait for the damage to come and then go off. but every other "healing" class and spell mean absolutely nothing when it comes to a full health bar. Disc feels like we are into a rotation of fitting things into a certain time frame because quite frankly if the damage isnt eating our shield in a single hit or if we can actually start stacking DA's....we start getting bored.
Mitigation is different because it gives what every healer needs, time. sure GC said he doesnt want us doing everything with shields, but hey, is it too much to say that I disagree with him? Oh, and by the way, disc does use more than shields, renew and PoM are very good freinds of mine :P

EH being the key word here. We are the only healers that can do this in many ways. Tanks love EH. We can increase Armour and provide mitigation. It doesn't matter that we can't solo heal a tank in current content because were not meant too. Paladins put out big numbers because they only have 3 - 4 spells which are ALL single target. We have spells that are single target yet spread to multiple targets (PoM) which can proc mitigation DA.
Discipline is fine where it is. Come ICC the numbers will balance again. Just be patient.

Nice strawman :P
Show me a log where you're "pumping out 8k flash heals on GCD only" because quite frankly you don't have the gear for it (as that gear does not yet exist).
If you could, I'd agree with you, however because in such a scenario I doubt disco would have problems at all.
Assuming a full grace stack and the ToL bonus you'd need an average
6.5k
7k non crit flash heal to accomplish said feat.
edit: my bad on the math, I doubled up on grace.
Looking at your current gear, I can napkin math that you need about
2,000
2600 more spellpower to accomplish that feat after 25m raid buffs and a spellpower flask and another 550 haste rating to push you down to the GCD.
I'm not interested in a faceroll disco experience. I'm interested in Disco being an equal substitute for a paladin when it comes to healing a single target.
who was that directed at?
if you want disc to be an equal substitute for a paladin, then reroll paladin. Like i said, were the Shadow Priests of BC. They inflate our numbers too much then we give a lot of mitigation too quickly. It's not meant to be a 100% thing.
Tanks scaling is the problem, they are fixing it. Stop the QQ and wait for ICC, then if you see problems happening, by all means ill join the bandwagon and reroll marshal McBride because we really are getting the short end of the straw. I doubt it will come to that at all.
