Actually Shamans are currently one of the best classes to play if you're looking for a high rating, at least according to the numbers*. I have heard of Ele/Destro/healer doing quite well in 3s.
Then there's the option of speccing your Warrior to Arms, which is a top arena spec.
So you already have two good options. The grass isn't always greener.
*I have been trying to find the relevant post (just read it yesterday) but haven't been able to. Will keep looking. (If anyone else is familiar, the poster takes the total number of people playing the class, then divides the number at a 2k+ rating or something like that the determine class representation at higher brackets. I thought it was on AJ but can't find it. Anyway Shamans were like at the top for 3v3 and 3rd for 5v5 IIRC.)

I'm assuming you mean the SK-Gaming Top 100? If so, here's the class breakdown for the
top 100 in 3s
and
5s
. In 3s Shamans are at 37% with Ele coming in at 5.7% as a spec. For 5s Shamans are at 107% while Ele is at 11.3%.
It is actually a further statistical analysis based on that data, which divides the class representation in top 100 into the number of people playing that class to get a more meaningful number. Again, I'm pretty sure it's on Arena Junkies but I can't find it unfortunately.
