Hey all.
So, I've never posted before, and I don't know how well this is going to go over with the lot of you, but I need help.
I am a raiding 80 Orc Enhancement Shaman with a DPS problem. I'm talking like barely hitting 4k in raids (ToC10, especially) ... I would like to believe that the gear I have is descent, not the best, but good enough to work with. I use ShockAndAwe for my priority of attacks and Rawr to help figure out the best gem combination. I'm not really too familiar with EnhSim or EP values. But I read/heard that EP values under 2 are bad business?
Anyway, I am open to any suggestions you all may have. Maybe someone can explain the EP thing, or direct me to a link of some use? Well, thank you all for reading.
-Kazzy
PS- I have a ton of hit, I know. Our guild tends to pug, so that 3% hit buff I can get from other players isn't something I can really rely on.
*EDIT* Looks like my armory link isn't working? QQ Maybe this will work...

Hi Kazya:
First off, Armory is working for me. Your gear is fine as far as it goes. You are over hit cap and expertise cap, which I gather you already know. You have some interesting gem choices fwiw. A few of the blue quality gems in some odd places is all (weapon, pants). Your spec is cookie-cutter. One thing to change immediately is your glyph. You currently rock out with Glyph of Lava Lash. Replace that with Glyph of Feral Spirit.
I think the biggest thing between a decent enh shaman and a great one is the following: getting the priority system down to a science and adapting in the moment if something changed/is about to change. What sort of up-time do you have on Magma totem? Are you sure to use Fire Ele when you can? What about Feral Spirits? Are you self-BL'ing them if someone/you have already used BL and you have the Sated debuff? Are you using a weave of FS or just ES?
As far as EnhSim and EP values. Generally speaking, if a stat has an EP value below 2 (that means that 1 point of that stat is worth less than 2 points of AP), then you would rather stack AP in gems. Someone can correct me or summarize more than me on that point.
In order for us to help you with your DPS, provide some more information. Think about changing that glyph and a few gems as well.

Fulgurah,
Thank you much for reading my post and offering your suggestions. I will try out the Feral Spirit glyph right away. Also, about the blue gems, they happened as a result of being broke or nothing being able to find a JC for the right cut. I plan to get those fixed soon as well. My spec I was planning on changing when I got my 4th tier item, placing points into Reverberation and taking from Imp Shields and Imp SS.
Okay, so on to priority. I drop my magma totem every chance I can, after its last tick. I am slacking on using my wolves more as well as Fire Elemental Totem. When I do use my wolves do I do make sure to blow BL after, or use my own BL if another shaman has already done it for the raid. In ShockAndAwe I am using this current priority: MW5 LB; LL with QE active, FS, ES if SS, SS, ES, LL with no QE active, Magma Totem, and Lightning/Water Shield. I will add Feral Spirit to the priority now. Also, I have my trinket,
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47881
, and my racial, Blood Fury (AP by 322, spell damage 163 for 15 sec) macro'd and I pop it every 2 mins in fights.
I
really
do not know what I am doing with using EnhSim (LOL) but I ran EP values (it skipped Expertise since I'm over the cap) and here's what I got:
AP- 1
Crit - 1.27
Hit - 2.53
Haste- 1.2
Armor Pen - .65
SP- .80
MH dps- 3.56
OH dps - 1.81
Strenght - 1
Agi - 1.43
Int - 1.61
Spirit - .03
Mana - .03
MP5 - 2.08
K, so I don't know what any of that means, or what I am to do with it. Maybe you or someone else can help me out on what I'm doing here. Ehehee.
Once again, thanks much for your time and reply. :D

I find these values very weird, AP with 1 and Mp5 with 2.08 O_o
The correct order should be Hit > Expertise > AP > Haste > Agi > Crit > Int > etc etc
Not sure if expertise comes first or second, but they're both important tho!
For FS/ES rotation you could make a macro like i did
#showtooltip Earth Shock
/cast Wind Shear
/castsequence reset=target Flame Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock
1 button spam, with interrupt included :)
Hope it helps, good luck

Anything that comes out of a sim should be taken as little more than a guideline, some stats will sim in strange ways even if they work out differently when actually DPSing. Some stats are also exponential/decreasing in value as you stack them.
ArP, for example, gets better as you stack it. Crit and Int also gets worse as you stack them, becaue they give less and less for each point (Int stops being a "not oom" stat after a while, crit hs diminishing returns on the uptime of Flurry).
Haste is another odd stat so sim. Say the GCD is 2 seconds and you have 0 haste SS, ES, LL, LB and SS is back off cooldown. Both a sim and player should use SS here. But add, say, 10 haste and the GCD becomes 1.99 seconds. SS, ES, LL, LB takes 7.98 seconds to do, SS is not yet off CD so the sim goes ahead and refreshes LS. Hence the fluctuating values when you sim haste.
/castsequence reset=target Flame Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock
Is also a DPS loss (don't use a macro for this) in cases where you're lucky with MW procs so you can only fit in 1 ES between FS. And FS isn't always worth using just because it drops off (Anub is about to burrow, add is about to die, Twins' shield needs to be bursted down)

Why would I ever only be able to fit 1 ES between FS? It shouldn't have anything to do with MW procs, the FS DoT always lasts long enough to do 2 ES. At most MW procs will delay ES for a bit but never for more then 6 seconds, right?
Btw about that macro: Putting Wind Shear in it is a very, very bad idea. I don't mind the shock macro but Wind Shear should be on an extra (and easy and fast to reach) button. You want interrupts to be controllable and not random.

If you refresh FS as 2/1/0 seconds left (only clipping the last tick), you can often only get 1 ES in. If you refresh it only when it drops off you should get 2 ES in.

Depends on your job, if you are on interrupts, of course it needs to be on a separated key, otherwise it doesn't matter, it's a threat reduction and an occasional interrupt, always useful.
And about FS/ES you shouldn't clip FS at all, otherwise it's a dps loss, that's why my macro is correct. If you want to clip FS go on, it's your choice, but it's not the best solution.

Darkmadonna, dont use FS yet, it's only increasing dps when u got 4set bonus and flame shock glyph. U should collect haste more now, like put gems into haste and get trinkets with use/proc haste.
No, FS is a DPS increase with or without the 4-piece. You can use ES only while you're learning the rotation, it doesn't matter, that kind of thing is up to the Shaman. FS glyph with the 4-piece seems to sim well, I think it works out pretty garbage in most real-time situations.

FS glyph sims out as a very small upgrade for me at a high-gear level with 4/5 T9.25. But I haven't switched to it, mainly because I know there are times when I'm ESing when I should FS because I'm not yet completely used to to the rotation. In other words, if I were a perfect player, it would be a small DPS upgrade, but since I'm not...I think it would turn out negative.
For a beginning Enh Sham, I'd say just straight ES until you get used to the rest of our proccy nature, mostly using Maelstrom 5-procs as quickly as you can. Once you've internalized the finer points of our priority system, go ahead and add in a FS on every third shock.
