That happened back in BC when Auto Shot would not fire while you were casting Steady Shot. The two shots were tied so you tried to get your auto shot speed down to 1.5 secs to match the casting time of Steady Shot so you didnt clip your auto shot. The term applies more towards Explosive Shot now, you get an LnL proc and you fire an explosive shot before the previous shot ticks off, clipping your damage.

Not compeletly sure, but I heard 3.0 removed the 'auto shot clipping' wich pretty much means that for example, when you're using steady shot, auto shot keeps firing aswell, at the same time.

you can clip shots mostly steady shot if you dont wait for it and hit the next shot in your rotation. I do this alot and it *!@#es me off... when i take my time i'm pushing 5k dps but when i clip alot it drops to 3k you gotta wait for that shot to go off before you hit the next one. With explosive shot if you get lock n load, you can loose a tick or two of damage if you pile the shots together so always try to put a shot in between so you don't override the explosive shot dot.

The only time it pays to "clip" serpent sting is if you get a major AP buff such as
Mirror of Truth
or Expose Weakness. The extra AP will buff your serpent sting.
