Ohh golden what is happening to you? How exactly did you went from Lord of the Clans to this? its like going from "Moby-Dìck" to the "Da Vinci Code".

"Varian contemplates killing himself" What? Da hell did that come from? Well based on your review, this sounds very....poorly done. Ugh.
that bit could make a slightly bit of sense. If the alliance navy fleet was losing, he'd be captured, and then submitted to lots of humiliation. Probably he thought it better to die with his integrity intact, than be a slave again. Its the least crazy explanation I can come up with, because frankly its still an out-of-character moment for him, and everyone, not one faction leader strikes me as a coward that would take the cyanide pill when confronted with the firing squad.

I think I was in stitches reading the whole thing, to be honest. Mostly because it was so terribly written it was funny. While I was reading it anyway. Afterwards it kinda hit me about how horrible it was and I got sort of dejected.
Though the mental image of Thrall riding a spirit wolf, while sparkling, into the sunset, to the Maelstrom, will be with me forever.
Aye.
As for Varian, it was more about dying with glory then anything else.
Also, Gallywix was in the book....as yet another living plot object.

please don't make me call that slimeball a "faction leader". The only term I prefer for him is "Target practice"

Oh and for Tides of War being written by Golden and not Knaak, there's a semi-reference to the Dragonlance world in the book:
Apparently there is a spell that can make the Focusing Iris, which is the size of a human normally, shrink down to pocket size and become much lighter....just like the Dragon Orbs can do.

I've seen a thousand too many posts here and there about Theramore's supposed neutrality which, as far as I know, has only been referenced to in the RPG source books. Never in-game has the Theramore military managed to live harmoniously with the Horde and the very extreme contrary happened thorought the Alliance-Horde war.
Harmoniously no...but in a Cold War, up to the point where the assault on Theramore happens in 9 days? Oh yes, very much so. Even the quests in Dustwallow don't have you going head to head with the Horde forces there.

In Vanilla there were quests about killing Theramore soldiers and spies.
On both sides, since you were hunting the deserters and the people responsible for the Missing Diplomat quests as an Alliance. Also, still wouldn't call that the outright war that the other zones had back in Vanilla; such as Ashenvale and then of course the Southern Barrens in Cata.

Theramore was still considered one of the few neutral ground locations in Kalimdor though...because of who the leader was at that point. But as next Tuesday, the kingdom itself is wiped off the face of the map, and Jaina is no longer a pure Alliance member, since she's the new leader of the Kirin Tor.

Wether we have another example of gameplay and story segregation (read: failed storytelling) or not, it only applies to pre-Cataclysm WoWWell, except for semi-peace pact that Jaina and Thrall had that was shattered by her Father, and then of course the fact that the primary attempts to call for peace between the Horde and Alliance were done at Theramore, but kept getting interrupted by outside forces; both the things that lead to the Missing Diplomat and the Twilight Hammer screwing over the second peace talk.
And I thought Dalaran was rejoining the Alliance. You know, with them sending their faction leader to defend Theramore.Uh...no; Dalaran was only there to try to stop the war: None of the Kirin Tor mages were on the offensive, as they left that up to the Alliance forces of Theramore....well, except for the Sunreaver traitor.
Dalaran is still neutral, since you know, joining up with the Alliance would mean that all Horde members, including said Sunreavers, would be kicked out of the city and declared war on as well.
