Welp, the sad truth is that cartoonish style is perfect for Blizzard doctrine - when they make a game, they make damn sure 95% of computers available at the time of the release can run it, if only on minimal settings.

but...........but............ I'm not talking about graphical prowess, I'm talking about designs.
I know there are games out there that have a realistic art style, AND low system requirements. They're not mutually exclusive. Lineage II has inferior graphics than wow, and its system requirements are about the same, and yet Lineage II looks more gorgeous because they use a more realistic style, specifically, anime style.

Notice that Blizzard's games always use an unrealalistic art style Rank; they like it.
Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft, and WoW. It is one of Blizzard's defining features; it makes their games easily recognizable.

I know, I said it on my post, that this is hardly new, since as back as warcraft 2 they've used this style. (I still don't think Warcraft 1 counts)
Doesn't mean I like it.

*shrug*
People have been complaining about it to Blizz for years now, and it doesn't look to be changing any time soon.

though I will say that I don't consider starcraft to be cartoonish at all.
I mean, look at jimmy, or sarah, they don't exactly look cartoonish to me. Maybe the unit sprites look that way (and in that case, every real-time or turn-based strategy looks that way) but the unit portraits, and cutscenes don't look cartoonish at all, not even on Starcraft 1.
As for diablo......... on that one you're right. Marius does look like a cartoonish human, and I'd even dare to say that the new characters on D3 do look a bit cartoonish (Tyrael's hands are HUGE) but I doubt this applies to starcraft.

They keep Warcraft 'cartoony' so they don't have to bump up the rating on it; if it was realistic and showed the actual consequences of some of our attacks well....let's just say, it would be like Warcraft 2 with all the stuff exploding again lol.

Guild wars 2 System requirements are pretty low actually
"Our goal with Guild Wars 2 is to have it run on a wide range of Windows gaming PCs.
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better • Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better • 2 GB RAM • NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) • 25 GB available HDD space • Broadband Internet connection • Keyboard and mouse
Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game."
erm........... yo' not to go against ya but.............. those are not low system requirements at all man.
Requiring a dual-core processor, and a video-card higher than gforce 7800 is actually pretty high.
I can run wow on a default PC, with zero graphic cards at all, and a processor as low as a pentium 4, you could run wow on antique pcs. Can't say the same for GW2 if that's their min system requirements.
In other news: ITS ON! Finally a release date. Well, Looks like I was a wee bit off =/ I could had sworn it would had been released on august, but its gonna be on the last week of september (great, just when my vacations end T_T why blizzard? why?)
Ohh well, time to book it.

Ohhh crap =S the plot thickens.
Well, it seems like garrosh's sanity slippage is happening sooner rather than later. After all the crap he said on ashenvale 'bout the horde never using demons ever again, lookie-lookie-ohh-big-smookie:
Exhibit A
: A group of Wild Imps captured.
Exhibit B:
A beholder Captured.
Exhibit C:
Both of these on a clearly horde camp (horde banner and horde ship on the background)
=(
Its still a little too soon to be drawing conclusions, but what it looks like is garrosh re-doing his plan from wolfheart, only with demons instead of magnataurs this time, as in, he's capturing demons and either using them as powersources, or as shocktroops. Either way, this completely counterdicts his previous stance of zero tolerance on demon magic in the horde.
So.............. not only big'ol bonehead is largely incompetent, stupid, and a jerkass, he is also a hypocrite. Wow. Grom outta be raging on his grave.
I sure hope these are just screenies taken out of context (im not actually in the beta, but anything is possible, like yet another orc/forsaken general going rogue and using extreme methods not approved by the warchief) but it doesn't really looks good.

I'm honestly not even sure where that is; possibly part of the reworked Jade Forest. And I could see it fitting in with what the Sunwalkers were doing in Wilds, the hunting of the Waters of Life for whatever source there.
Sadly, I'm disillusioned with Beta currently so haven't been back on there in almost a month lol.

It is, this wasn't on the old jade forest. Its possible the alliance has something equally heinous there as well.................... ohh who am I kidding? in all likelyhood they're gonna be white-shiny-knight-hero-paragons saving the day as usual.
And I could see it fitting in with what the Sunwalkers were doing in Wilds, the hunting of the Waters of Life for whatever source there.
Care to elaborate on this? ya know, I'm a permanent member of the "no beta" club.

AAHHHH what a waste =S I wanna be there.

Wait wut. How does binding demons has anything to do with the Sunwalkers? The freaking An'she worshiping pious sunwalkers?

Well, someone over at MMOchump (yes, among all the stupid posts, there are a few voices of reason) posted this.
Again, I can't confirm it since I'm not in the beta.
Everyone is going nuts on Pandaria, on both sides. The Orc Captain of the Horde Fleet dies on the naval combat with many of his forces. The warlock takes control of the remaining forces and builds up a safe harbor to repair the remaining ships. Seeing that he needs forces, starts summoning demons to bolster his position.
During this, the Forsaken survivors reach the base, since they can't drown. Then everyone start going nuts, Pandaria starts to affect them. They become possessed by doubt, anger, hatred, pushing them more and more to the extreme. Yep, the Sha effect.
The same happens on the Alliance side, with the Alliance using Pandaren, children included, in forced labor. The Alliance commander even turns himself into a Sha.
So, this has nothing to do with Garrosh or Varian or whatever, it's all about the craziness of war.
So this apparently, isn't something endorsed by Garrosh, or Varian. This is 2 sides at war, landing on a strange land, and going batsh1t crazy due to the sha'
At least I'm hoping that's the case. Cuz the last time the horde resorted to demon magic................................... it wasn't a pretty sight.

There are a group of Sunwalkers hunting for the Waters of Life(which is just a massive reference to the Fountain of Youth heh) in the Wilds, at war with the Night Elves who are trying to find a way to get their eternal life back....it doesn't end well for either side.
And that makes sense Rank.

Gotta say, having
him write a book
for the Warcraft universe is a little strange; you'd think they would use him for the Starcraft one instead.
Michael Stackpole
; well, he's a good solid writer, and I enjoyed the Battletech and Star Wars books he's written, so we'll see what happens.

Juicy lore
OM NOM NOM.
Also, here are a few quotes from what is apparently "the wisest" Hozen on the whole game:
Wet fur not fun to sleep on.
ok? I guess.
Don't pull own tail when there are other tails to pull.
Auch.
Firecracker for throwing, banana for eating.
What'da'ya'know? they have common sense after all.
Peel banana first, eat second.
I'm starting to feel these aint the sharpest crayons in the box.
Poo not good to eat, but very good to throw.
Ok that's just gross.
Mouth only hole that banana go in.
EEEEWWWWWW! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Juicy indeed!
*pulls out juicer*
Clearly it's the work of the Sha, and I'm not sure what happened to them but I wager they died in the forest, either at their own hands or at the hands of the Shas' minions.
